We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Dong and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?
The pandemic was a blessing in disguise for many people, including myself. It’s like all of the time that we tend to say “we don’t have”, was thrown directly in our lap. For me, it allowed the opportunity for me to face some not so pretty things about myself. I decided to seek out a therapist and was recommended the book, “Daring Greatly” by Brene’ Brown, during our session. I haven’t read a book in its entirety since high school, so the fact that I actually completed ‘Daring Greatly’ from start to finish should tell you that it was more than amazing.

This book allowed me to understand and accept who I am, flaws and all. It opened my mind to learning the power of my thoughts and energy frequency. I came face to face with my “inner hater” and ultimately realized that this entire time I’ve been the one standing in my own way. The impact that ‘Daring Greatly’ had on me ultimately changed my life. I am able to fully tap in to my purpose and my power.

Now, I am known as the “Mama Motivator” where I share the lessons I’ve learned from Brene in ‘Daring Greatly’ to encourage mothers to get out of their way and find their purpose outside of motherhood. I can honestly say that reading this book is part of the reason to me being where I am today. It gave me the tools that I needed to start breaking down barriers that were hindering me from accessing my full potential. I highly recommend it to everyone that I know who wants to dare greatly!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I consider myself a serial mompreneur! Going back to the pandemic, it not only sparked my healing journey but also gave me the opportunity to bring multiple businesses to life. My passion is truly behind ‘The Mom Dynasty’, a podcast dedicated to helping mothers rediscover their identity and purpose outside of motherhood. I have had the amazing honor of interviewing Boss mamas who have shown that you can still chase your dreams while being an amazing mother.

I started this podcast after my own experiences with postpartum depression, the illusion of the “perfect mom” and losing my identity in motherhood. I gave up on myself and my goals, thinking that this is what a “good mom”does. What I’ve learned is that in order to be a good mom who instills perseverance, determination, and will power into my son, I must embody those qualities myself. How can I tell my son to not give up on his dreams if I give up on mine? It took me years to finally get out of my own way and launch my first episode with hopes that someone would relate to it.

What I discovered is that there are soooo many mothers going through the EXACT same thing as me! They needed a place where they can let go of the need to be perfect and embrace their own desires again! The Mom Dynasty not only encourages moms to find their purpose, but I am able to bring on women to share their story on how they successful chased their dreams in motherhood.

I am super excited for the upcoming year as we are planning some HUGE things! I am releasing an interview series called “The Mom Behind the Brand” that will feature owners of some of the most successful brands in the world! This will be an opportunity for me to start breaking the illusion that social status and success makes you invincible to natural human experiences. By hearing the stories of how these women built their empires, my listeners will learn that fear, depression, and mom guilt isn’t abnormal. Even the best of the best feel like they aren’t doing enough when it comes to motherhood.

I want the world to know that The Mom Dynasty is building a community of women who are living a life of fulfillment and purpose. Who are excelling in motherhood and professionally. Who know that in order to be the BEST mother they can be, they must first be the BEST version of themselves and that we are here to help. My ultimate goal is to create a non-profit organization that can provide actual resources to help mothers really become unstoppable.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To be completely honest, this will be an experience for both of us! I would take my best friend to some of the hottest spots that I’ve seen online to see if it’s really worth the hype or not. There are two restaurants in particular that I have visited and would love to take her to for some good grub. Tacos La Villa for some amazing Birria Tacos, and Discover Wings in Clarkston for the BEST Fried rice! I know these aren’t the fanciest places, but hey, you can’t be some affordable good eats!

We then would try out Woodhouse Day Spa, I’ve heard great things about them and having been dying to get a mani/pedi from there. During her week stay, we have to take a little drive away from the city for some good wine tasting at Chateau Elan and check out the spa there as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my partner in crime and life, my best friend and soul mate, Mark! He is the person who gives me the love, support, encouragement, and kick in the ass that I need. He has been on this journey with me and I couldn’t have made it this far without him. If you’re reading this, I love you babe!
