We had the good fortune of connecting with Britney Tipton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Britney, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
To always believe that I can do anything in life with focus, discipline and unwavering belief that if I try hard enough nothing is unattainable.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Since I was younger I was always a busy body, I just wanted to know how to do things. All kinds of things. But fashion and beauty stood out to me the most. I’m a cosmetologist by trade and of course that opened the door to fashion. After I gave someone a new look they would often ask what kind of clothes I thought would compliment it. I would go shop for clothes at the thrift stores and put together looks for them.

I think what sets me apart from most stylists is that I’m able to dress anyone. Men, women, children, plus size, petite ages 0-100.

I’m most proud about the way I make people feel. Whether I’m doing lashes, styling fashion shows, getting somebody ready for a first date or Djing a gig , Im always happy about the end result of helping.

It’s so crazy because no matter what I’m doing customer service and satisfaction is the main objective. I have always wanted my name to be synonymous with stellar service and quality. I’m so goofy and awkward but when I’m in grind mode or have a deadline to meet I am a totally different person.

Nothing in life is easy but I feel like being a consumer before a service provider made me “automatically” professional. I approach everything I do with a reciprocal mindset. Would I be ok with someone showing up late to an appointment? Would I be ok with not getting amazing service? Etc. So I definitely feel like I try to make it easy and work smarter not harder.

Some of the most important lessons I’ve learned along the way is to take everything at face value and always get it in ink.

I just want the world to know I was here, I want people to know they can do anything with dedication and confidence. I want people to know that no decision is wrong as long as no one is being harmed. Try it all. See what you can do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man ok so I love music ,art and fashion and being in nature so I would definitely get on Songkick and see if there are any dope concerts coming up, at the Roxy or the Tabernacle. Those two have become my favorite places to go in Atlanta. Foodwise, there’s a place called Fork in the Road that has some amazing food. Another favorite is the Go Vegan Grille , they have an A-Town funk burger that is flame! Mangoes in the West End and Rusans for sushi! I love getting dressed up but I also love to be lowkey so im pretty open. There’s always something to do here and I’m super spontaneous so if they’re down to explore so am I.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many people have had a hand in molding me into who I am. Both of my parents passed away before I turned 18 years old, so any and everybody that has supported me, encouraged me, believed in me and helped me in anyway deserves credit! My sister, Keisha my brothers, my friends and family back in Indianapolis are all deserving of credit
