We had the good fortune of connecting with Brianna Kidd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brianna, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born in Detroit, Michigan but I was raised in a small country town in Louisiana called Haughton! Me and my family moved to Bryan, Texas in 2009 and I have been back and forth from Texas to Louisiana every since then. August 6, 2021 I decided to move me and my son to Atlanta. It was a big move for me and I took a chance I’m so glad I took. I was raised by my mother and my grandmother. Both super strong black women. They made me the woman I am today and I am so blessed to have them. They have supported every move I have made throughout my life. In May of 2017 I graduated with my Associates in Business Administration. Even still I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. November 2019 I started practicing on my own to be a nail technician and it’s been great every since.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I decided to become a nail tech 2 years ago. I was working a part time job. I wasn’t making any money really and had a lot of time on my hands. I used my last dollar to order a beginner kit from Amazon! It has been everything but easy. I’ve invested alot of money, time, and tears. I even gave up and sold all my supplies but after a month I just knew it was my calling so I had to buy all new supplies again. It hasn’t been all bad either. I used to be very shy, (I still am kind of) but being a nail tech has forced me to open up and be more social. Because of that I have met some lovely people. Even tho I have been a nail tech for 2 years I still know there is room to learn more and I can’t wait to see my progress in 2 more years.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve only been in Atlanta 5 months but my favorite place so far was the Georgia Aquarium! The dolphin show was amazing. I felt like a big kid and I can’t wait to go back again.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First I want to give a shout out to my mother Carbrina and my grandmother Delores. Without them I am nothing! Last but not least my son Kai’Dreion. Every decision I have made since 2015 is because of you. You are my biggest supporter and number 1 fan. I pray I continue to make you happy.
