We had the good fortune of connecting with Brenda Vanessa López and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brenda Vanessa, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose an artistic career because I knew it would provide the utmost freedom for me. Freedom to create, express, learn, grow, and expand. Freedom to be human and not only accept but celebrate my mistakes through Art.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art speaks for itself. It is loud and unapologetic, like myself. It’s been a struggle to get where I am and where I want to be because of my own self doubt. It took years to build the courage to put myself out there. I always wanted to a part of something and never truly fit in anywhere so I saw no other option than to create my own space through my art. A space where I can be seen, heard, and everyone can be included. My brand is welcoming, it is accepting, and understanding. My brand knows no limits or boundaries, only freedom through expression.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’re starting the day with brunch at Le Petit Marche my favorite breakfast spot. Then maybe a walk or hike either on the Beltline or any trail close by (my go to is East Palisades trail, I love seeing the dogs play in the water). I like to shop at Goodwill (fav location is in Decatur) or Rag-o-Rama (L5P). If it’s a Friday night we’re doing Perreo404, Saturday night probably Revery and Sundays are for family. We’re either hiking in North Georgia or going to J&J flea market.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my Family, my mom Rosy and father Juan for showing me perseverance and humility. My sisters Melanie and Mariana for being my cheerleaders and my assistants. I would also like to thank my best friend Crystal Scott, an amazing woman and overall outstanding artist/human. This is my family and there are so many more in my community which I’m thankful for believing in me. My community is what has gotten me here and continues to inspire me.
