Meet Breana Morrison | Graphic Designer & Illustrator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Breana Morrison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Breana, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always been a creative individual, with a passion for music, art, dance, and design. I thrive on the excitement of tackling new projects frequently, as they challenge my problem-solving skills and keep me engaged. When I discovered graphic design, I came to appreciate its unique ability to convey beauty and meaning. To me, graphic design is a universal language that transcends cultural and linguistic barriers, allowing emotions and ideas to resonate with people around the world. The thought that someone from a completely different background can understand and connect with my work is both humbling and inspiring. This profound realization solidified my decision to pursue graphic design as a career.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work can be described as colorful, expressive, and dynamic. What sets me apart is my willingness to experiment and challenge conventional design norms. Coming from a Caribbean background, much of my work reflects and celebrates this cultural influence. One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey has been seeing others appreciate the bold and unorthodox combinations I create.
Transitioning from college to the professional world was challenging. I initially struggled to find direction and connect with individuals who could help me grow. Accustomed to the structured obligations of classes, I suddenly found myself with an abundance of unstructured time. During those early months, I focused on creating content and designs for Instagram, as well as projects for family and friends. Over time, this dedication led to opportunities with actual clients.
This experience taught me the importance of perseverance. Success comes to those who stay disciplined and consistent. While it’s a common saying, I’ve truly come to understand that good things take time. I want the world to know that my journey is far from over. I’m committed to working hard and making a meaningful impact as a creative professional.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my friends visit Atlanta, I like to start off with Topgolf because it offers a great balance of intimacy and lighthearted fun. It’s also a perfect way to connect while doing something active. For my friends who enjoy painting—or even those who don’t but are open to trying something new—I recommend going to the Picasso Splat Room. It’s a relaxing space where you can enjoy drinks and create abstract art, which makes it a fun and unique stress reliever. Another favorite spot of mine is Piedmont Park because it’s ideal for picnic days filled with music and fun games such as kickball or soccer. I love to unwind and enjoy the outdoors especially with my friends. Lastly, I highly recommend visiting Ponce City Market. It offers an incredible variety of delicious food options and a vibrant atmosphere, making it a great place to explore and enjoy.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to express my gratitude to Georgia State University’s Graphic Design Program and its faculty. Their guidance and support have been instrumental in helping me achieve the milestones I have reached today. They consistently challenged me to push beyond my limits and taught me that there is always another path to achieving your goals!
