We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandi Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandi, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I would say that it’s being true to myself. I have my own style of how I do my content creation. It can be discouraging in this field and you see yourself doing a lot of comparisons. The important thing is to not be like everyone else and fit into this one mold. Being authentically me is better than, copying and looking like someone else.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So content creating is what I do on the side. My professional job is that I am in Executive Leader for Target. My content creating is me romanticizing my life. I’ve always enjoyed finding the new hot places to eat it and things to do. I have been doing that for years. It took a friend to say why don’t you create a blog. I like to show my creation being about all the beautiful things that a place has to offer. my videos definitely let you get a chance to see the food or the experience of where I am. It’s not quick chopped up pieces of video. Tried to show a bunch of different things with a lot of different affects. In my mind sometimes simpler is better. But you throw in a little bit of Excitement and luxury. The content creation world is hard and very saturated. We go to a lot of the same events. And the goal is not to have everybody’s video look the same. That’s why I say I stay true to my vision and try not to copy anyone else. It’s hard because you want to jump on the bandwagon what’s popular and what everyone else is doing. I care more about putting out quality videos versus it being seen by 1 million people. I am excited to see myself at spin more into travel and experiences. I’ll still be doing food but I don’t want it to be 100% of my niche. That’s how I will grow and that will hopefully open up more opportunities for me as well.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So, if my friend was coming to visit for a week we’re not hitting up your typical Atlanta tourist traps. We are definitely check it out Flight Club. It’s such a fun place to go have a little healthy competition and get some delicious food. The lamb skewers there are to die for! We’re also going to check out some of the amazing rooftop views that the city has to offer. My favorites are Sky Lounge on top of the Glenn hotel, Drawbar in the Bellyard Hotel (They also have some of the most amazing food.) and there’s a new rooftop that I want to check out called Overstory. The Epicurean Hotel host so many different events. I will check out one of the events that they are having, we would definitely have a great time there. And I can’t forget Spin Art Atlanta. It’s such a fun time just being creative and making a mess… Especially when you don’t have to clean it up. Food must tries are Banshee in East Atlanta, Superica, and Hawkers just to name a few. since Hawkers is on the Beltline I can’t let my friend leave without walking the Beltline. I would also take my friend to a secret concert from Sofar Sounds or check out one of the candlelight concerts. Live music is one of my favorite things. I would also take some sort of a class that’s a fun activity to do. There’s so many perfume, making, candle, making, food making classes that we could choose from, and have a really amazing time. Atlanta has so much to offer that is so hard to narrow down to such a small list.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would for sure say my friends and my family. My friends encouraged me to start my content creating and are always supportive of everything that I do. My family is the same. You can find them commenting on t all my videos just to show some love. They share my journey and are my biggest hype man. I’ll also say that since starting content creation, I have gained a group of other content creators that have been very supportive. Letting me know about opportunities and including me and things has been amazing. And it feels good to have a great support system in this creative world.
