Meet Black Simonè | Plus Size Fashion Influencer and Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Black Simonè and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Black, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of The Black Simone is chance. To be more specific, I took a chance at change, as I was afraid of showcasing my fashion on a public platform. After I summoned the courage to not care about what others think and to not be afraid of change, I began to release my fashion content on Instagram! I think when I started to do that, I felt freer and happier. Social media became my platform to publish and discover my favorite outfits and fashion inspirations; other people who followed me also became inspired by my content. It led to many of my followers dming me, expressing how they love my confidence and want, for themselves, to do whatever they desire to do freely, just like me!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
To introduce myself, I am a plus size influencer and model who’s worked with many brands such as Temu, Parade, Underwear for Humanity, and many more! I believe what sets me apart is not only my drive and ambition but also that I am in university, juggling social media influencing while also being a college student.

I am proud of the fact that while being heavily involved on campus and having a 4.0 GPA while also being an honors student, I still am hungry enough to continue to expand my brand to a larger audience. It’s not easy juggling so much; often I get tired and burned out, yet I overcome such feelings through motivation, as I desire to obtain any goals and dreams, I may have!

The lessons I’ve learned throughout influencing are to know your worth, and to have fun, but also to work smarter, not harder. As long as you are authentic and do what you love from the heart, people will fall in love with you and your art.

I want people to know about myself and my brand is that however you look like and whatever size you are, you are beautiful, and don’t let anyone tell you differently. Be confident being you; be your own muse.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First off–we have to go shopping!!! Bestie would come over, we would do our hair and makeup, and hit the best shops! We could maybe stop at the Atlanta Botanical Garden to have a picnic, and maybe go to the Georgia Aquarium to see dolphins! After we would get desert, walk around the city, and come back to the hotel for takeout and a movie marathon!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Throughout this journey, my family and best friends helped me to be where I am today. My mother always helped me with fashion shoots, ideas, and managing me, my sister always helped me as a support system and stylist, my father always took time out of his schedule to take me wherever I needed to go; my family is everything to me, as without them, there would be no The Black Simone. My best friends helped me as well with fashion inspiration and ideas, collaborating with me, and always supporting me both behind and in front of the camera.
