We had the good fortune of connecting with Bakari Blocton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bakari, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
My love of being a creative keeps me going. During the pandemic I was really down and questioned everything from my acting and moving forward with creating more content for my brand but everytime I wanted to quit, something would happen that let me know I was moving in the right direction. For example, when I said I wanted to take a break from acting, I booked my first lead role in a movie.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began acting at the age of 4. I have been told that I have a great talent of memorizing lines. I have been working on several roles at once and was able to be off script in record time and keep all my characters separate. I started being serious about acting at 7 and stay training year round. I always try to learn new skills to add to my tool box. It is somewhat easy for me because my parents handle most of the behind the scene stuff but I sometimes get nervous when it is something I have never did before, such as a live stage play. I overcome being nervous by thinking about things I like and keeping my confidence up. There’s a few lessons I have learned but the most important one I would have to say is always be grateful for what you have everyday becuase it can easily be all gone in a snap. I want the world to know that I am a happy kid first and foremost, I live for fun and stay upbeat and energetic no matter what. No negative vibes allowed. Sometimes people forget when it comes to the industry that real kids, are going to be a kid over acting any day. I love my craft but love that I am not pressured into doing anything that I don’t want to do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, we would start at The Battery, where the Braves play. They have nice eating spots but we would go to the Yard House because they have vegetarian options that I like. We would play or kick around a soccer ball on the green. Sometimes there’s even movies or yoga. Next we would go to an arcade such as Main Event, Andretti’s or Round One. It really wouldn’t matter which one because I like them all. I would take them to my favorite park, where we would swing, slide and play games such as tag until we got tired. Lastly, I would want to do Six Flags, including the water park. I haven’t been since I hit my growth spurt so now I can ride all the rides, so I am ready to go back.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my shoutout to my parents. They believed in me from the start and put so much time into assuring everything that I need to be successful is taken care of. They allow me to be free to explore whatever my heart desires and show me love unconditionally. They teach me the importance of saving but they also allow me to spend my earnings like I want: roblox lol
