We had the good fortune of connecting with Avery McNeil and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Avery, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Yes I DEFINITELY have a favorite quote, and it is ‘STAY THE COURSE’. The quote is legit EVERYDAY life to me. Everybody around the world, no matter your race, religion etc. has something that they are facing. A goal they are trying to reach, something they are trying to accomplish. There will be up’s and downs, valleys and peeks, twist and turns. (Such as a course) Since we are on this course of life; going through whatever it is we going through and battling, we are feeling the pain and joy , the sun and the rain…we might as well battle through whatever it is we are dealing with and make it to where we gotta go (STAY THE COURSE) no point in settling now. Get what you came for.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think that something that sets me apart from a lot of artist is that, what you see is what you get. I am comfortable being me, I don’t have a gimmick, I am not tryna be a trend, or be “catchy” I am not trying to be nobody else. I’m me. I am just “a cool MF that been through some s**t” is how I like to put it. What I am excited about is my growth with my music. Myself and others can hear and see the growth and the difference from when I first started recording until now. It is Incredible. I am not even CLOSE to where I want to be, but my progression over time was not easy just working hard knowing I want to better the the day before so I knew to do that would be a lot of long nights and sacrifices, good thing I’m a night owl lol. Also excited about this new music on the way…it will all be “PERFECT TIMING”. Some of the lessons I learned along the way are stay consistent, YOU have to be your biggest fan, believe in you. Network build relationships, also nothing is over night if it is it won’t last. I want the world to know it is COOL to be yourself, regardless how they try and paint the picture for you.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being from Jersey City, NJ I would have to say when you are in town Ringside is definitely a place to stop by. Since I been out here in Atlanta there are a lot of places I enjoy going. Some places are no longer in business but when I pop out I might be on Edgewood a few spots there, brunch on Sunday can definitely change depending on the vibe we in. Blaqhausatl is a vibe, sivas, cru (all locations to sivas and cru). It is something to do from Sunday to Sunday out here so if its lit that night I WILL PULL UP LOL.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I first gotta say thank you to God without him nothin is happening for me. Thank you G.Trott, Trott Sound he legit has been the backbone to what I been doing with this music, couldn’t be doing this without him..THANK YOU!! THANK YOU to the people supporting my music, playing and re-playing my music, reposting, commenting, sharing everything I post.
