We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashlye Rosario and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashlye, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve had to make was getting comfortable with rejection. I had to make NO a part of my life. I had to tell myself ‘This isn’t about my ego but business”. Instead of chasing clients I needed to showcase my work so that I could attract my targeted audience.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is that I’ve been through all that life had to throw at me and survived therefore I relate to a vast majority of people I come across, I am the chameleon in the room. I am so proud of pushing past my own limits and borders that I put on myself out of fear. Coming from the ghetto of north Philadelphia, being at the bottom, is my motivation. I’d tell myself “If I’ve been at the bottom then no one can knock me off the top when I get there”. Starting my business was easy but making money was and still is the hardest thing as a photographer. Its art that is coming from the deepest parts of you, not everyone will understand that or even vibe with what you put out! I overcame each challenge with simple self-courage and pep talks. Creativity is something most of us are born with so nothing can kill that passion! My biggest lesson I’ve learned was to not take anything personally, life goes on and, on your path, you meet new people all the time. Success is what you make it! I want the world to know about me is if they put me in a box, I’d break out of it and create something with those broken pieces. This isn’t just a job for me it’s my freedom! I hope to bring the beautiful out of everyone I photograph.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d take them axe throwing and to Panama City beach. Eat at outback’s restaurant and probably have a giant margarita from Rodeo Mexican Restaurant! Hopefully the peanut festival is happening in town!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is one-person I’d give recognition to and that is my partner, Joshua. He inspired me to look deep within myself and find the thing that brighten up my world and that is photography. I essentially created the path, but he pointed me in the right direction. Sometimes the ones that are looking from outside the glass can be extremely inspiring!!
