We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashli Crawford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashli, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always had a genuine love for stationery. My mom always said I’d take her black eyeliner and draw o’s on her headboard. From there, she knew I’d have a pen in my hand, paper and express my creativity. After meeting the love of my life in 2018, I got married, had my daughter by 2020 and felt I’d lost myself. One day it dawned on me to start something I could call my own and Plan It Write was born. My husband is a large reason why I am where I am today as he purchased everything to start my business and fully supports everything I do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I currently work for one of the largest global accounting firms. My journey began early as I’ve always been great with finance. I earned a BA in Journalism from Georgia State University in 2009; however, my path led me back to finance. I’ve overcome most challenges by leaning on those who know me best – my family. The great advice and guidance from my mom, dad and sister have led me to this very moment in life.

Although I am an employee, I want more from life. Hence the birth of my small business, Plan It Write. I am determined to trek through each and every challenge associated with this small business. Thus far I’ve learned, it’s in God’s time, not mine.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d take them to Downtown Atlanta. I’d show them all of the historic sites and how Atlanta’s culture has transformed. I’d particularly take them to Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint! They have the absolute best fried chicken and the entertainment is always the best! The environment is so chill and it’s a great place to simply have a great time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to dedicate my shout out to my parents as they are the reason why I am here and have fully supported me in being authentically me. My sister for always standing by my side as my best friend, confidant, cheerleader, protector and more! My husband for believing in me, seeing me for me, and pushing me to follow my dreams. Lastly my kids as they teach me patience, true love and to continue to strive for excellence.
