We had the good fortune of connecting with Aondrea Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aondrea, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The greatest success behind my business and everything that I stand for will always be GOD. My brand is solely based off the encounters and relationships I have with my clients, past, present and future! I’m the most creative when I can get to know my clients and interact with them. It means a lot to me and to them when we can connect outside of just business and talk about life too. Sometimes I check on my clients just to see how they are doing in between orders, and they too check on me as well. I’ve always believed that putting GOD first, taking care of people, and running a business based off principles and integrity it will always be successful.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In my line of business I get to turn my sweet treats into works of art! And anyone who knows me can tell you I love unique and challenging pieces. I make a large number of custom cakes that carry from simple designs to characters or things such as a pair of pants.

When it comes to what sets me apart from others I would say it would have to be the relationships I develop with my clientele. I like to build long lasting healthy and professional relationships, but personable as well.

After almost three years in business to date, I would have to say that I am most proud that my business runs completely off of referrals. I’m my opinion that is not an easy feat! So, it is safe for me to say that it is because of those whose patronage and support have kept my business going.

The growth of my business has been a challenge in good, but difficult way at times. It’s always great to have lots of business but learning who your customer base is has been the biggest challenge overall. I have personally learned that not everyone is your customer, although I would like them to be 😊.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my absolute favorite places to go is Marietta Square in dowtown Marietta. I’m a lover of art, music, the outdoors, food, festivals and especially coffee! Marietta Square has all of my favorite things wrapped up in one. My first stop to take my visiting family and friends is “Tiny Bubbles and Tea Bar. This place has everything from boba tea, coffee, jewelry, apparel and my all time must have, MACARONS!!! Not to mention macarons are from the “Macaron Queen”. In my opinion, they ARE the absolute best macarons you will ever taste anywhere.

Tin Lizzy’s in downtown Atlanta and Copeland’s of New Orleans are two of my most favorite places to eat lunch or dinner! I love Mexican food and seafood, and these two places are definitly it!

For entertainment, my family I are new fans of Main Event in Atlanta, as they have a variety of activities for children and adults. Our new fav is The Fun Spot Amusement park in Fayetville, Georgia. The prices are great, the food is so delicious, and the rides and attractions are pretty great too!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In this special shout-out feature I’d love to recognize the bakers who helped me grow from start to where I am now. Briana Charles, owner of “The Purple Sprinkle Cake Shoppe; As I was getting started in my business she kindly helped me with things such as business do’s and dont’s , policies, etc.

My next shout out goes to Natalina Da Silva, owner of “Luna Confections”. She graciously helped me learn the art of making decorated sugar cookies and how to respond to customers in difficult situations.

I can’t forget about the amazing Briana Dargan owner of Sammie’s Sweetz; Ava Stuck owner of Ava’s Confections and Deisgner Treats by Miesha Griffin. These women support me endlessly, inspire me and push me to keep going and thriving.

Of course I can’t forget my loving husband, parents siblings clients and all of my gracious supports who keep my business running 🤗
