We had the good fortune of connecting with Annie Andrews and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Annie, what’s your definition for success?
To me success is when other people that you have helped and inspired come back to let you know of the impact that I have a had in their life. Success is also about giving of one’s time, sharing positive thoughts, and providing a listening ear and a welcoming heart.

What should our readers know about your business?
First, I am very humbled. I have been considered a genuine trailblazer because of my distinguished career spanning the United States Navy and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and now I’ve formed my own business and currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Andrews Consulting Enterprises, LLC. At my company, which specializes in offering consultation on human resource management and people-related matters, I excel in driving transformation for both organizations and individuals, aiding them in realizing their passions and purposes. I believe my remarkable achievements stand as a beacon of inspiration because of my groundbreaking promotion as one of the first black women to adorn the rank of rear admiral in the 248 year history of the United States Navy and received multiple accolades for exceptional leadership.

I consider myself a transformational leader and strategist. I enjoy the human resources discipline because its all taking care of our most important important and valuable resources, and that is people. I am considered a great communicator and a visionary . I believe that an organization works well if the leader has a vision and that vision is transparent to all employees.
I also have the learn the power of the 3 L’s and that is Listen, Lead and Learn. Listening to those around you, leading from the front and taking in new things by learning as you go.

.My journey from being a Naval Officer in the U.S. Navy and as a Senior Executive at the FAA and now my current role at President/CEO of Andrews Consulting Enterprises, LLC, exemplify my commitment to leadership, transformation, and excellence. I want to use my experiences made throughout my career and the achievements received to inspire individuals and organizations, and drive positive change in the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of the things I would first do in the morning would be to visit the Fort Stewart Museum- Home to the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, Ft Stewart. While still being close to Fort Stewart I’d make my way to The Historical Dorchester Academy and Museum in Midway, Georgia.

Now it is time to have lunch, growing up down here in Hinesville GA one of my favorite places to go is Baldino’s. My favorite meal to get is the American Sub! The bread is always fresh, filling and just an amazing experience.

Then after lunch we will make our way to Savannah GA. We would walk off our amazing lunch on the Savannah Walking Tours which will lead us down the beautiful cobblestone that paves River Street. If I get tired of walking I can then make my way on the Old Town Trolly tours in downtown Savannah.

It’s time now to go to dinner! One of my favorite places is The Olde Pink House to grab a bite to eat. Then head over to Vic’s On The River for some mocktails and dessert.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like a shout out to Deborah (Debbie) Andrews Dawson. She is my sister and my Shero. All though my 32 year military career in the Navy, she has been the one taking care of the family while I was away on duties and assignment world-wide. Debbie worked for over 30 years in the Nursing profession and is a Retired Registered Nurse. Not only did she performed in her job well with her patients but simultaneously served as the caregiver for our entire family. She took great care of our Great- grandmother Anna Neeley who lived to be 105 years young, our Grandmother Sarah Morrison who lived to the age of 97, and our dear mother Electa Andrews who passed at the age of 81 a few years ago. She now provides the ultimate care as a consummate professional and caregiver to our Aunt Catherine, age 89 who is deaf. Although Debbie is a retired nurse she works now as a contract nurse with the Head-start programs throughout several Southeast Georgia counties.

Deborah Andrews Dawson is one of the strongest woman I know and shows compassion and empathy to her patients and fellowman. My sister has supported me, encouraged me and provided guidance to me which enabled me to do well and achieved my goals while at times sacrificing her own. I am grateful to have her for my sister and we have an unbreakable bond. Her love for family, compassion for others and service to all mankind are impeccable and is someone I am glad to emulate.
