We had the good fortune of connecting with Annette Hammons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Annette, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risks, with hindsight now in foresight, have been my saving grace. From the day I decided, to take the path that would eventually lead me here. I took the risk to return to school to get the career I needed. I applied for things I had no experience in, and it all payed off. Now, I’m in the middle of the biggest risk of my life. I am attempting to purchase and operate, what will be Atlanta’s Only Black Owned and Operated Mediterranean style Fine Dining Restaurant. The risks are involved because when looking for investors, you just have to do what you have to do. I’m excited when I take the risks, even if I fail, I’m Happy I tried.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am the General Manager of a an established Fine Dining Restaurant in Hapeville Georgia. What sets us apart is our amazing and talented Executive Chef and our ability to create a delicious experience. I want the world to know how good we truly are. I’ve learned that despite being few in numbers Black Owned fine Dining is a dream I will reach. I just have to continue to take the risk and continue on my path.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d take them to Volare Bistro in Hapeville Georgia. I’d request the server Brandon and I’d enjoy the night under the stars on their beautiful deck.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Shout out will go to my Sister Wendy Edison. As a small business owner for over 10 years she has weathered the storm and struggles of ownership while teaching me so much. I’ve looked up to her my entire life.
