We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Lynne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Starting. We all dream, we all think and imagine how dope an idea is but some people haven’t reached the level of courage to start. We consider the reasons we can’t do it because too many people are afraid to fail. I’ve failed at so many things and for a while I was afraid to face the truth of it. Once I was able to face my fears of failure, I began to feel successful.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is a result of musical influence and random sparks of inspiration. While this may sound familiar to other artists, I think this sets me apart because a lot of people won’t take the time to practice on themselves like I have. Sometimes we use our friends or practice on other people in exchange for a learning experience to become better at our craft; in regards to photography, that is. Where I am professionally is a result of the people in my network having faith in me. I wasn’t pushing for people to book me but, I’ve continued working and practicing quietly. I recently left the west coast and came back to Atlanta to work on my Tshirt brand for a few months. The moment I landed, I was getting calls to come work with people and that to me said, “I’m meant to do this”. Although this has only been a three year journey, I’ve faced a lot of ups and downs that seemed major. It didn’t feel easy at the time when I was going through it but it only took three years for me to branch out from declaring myself a photographer from my iPhone to now starting a business using my images. I can’t even begin to tell you how I overcame the challenges but when you want something bad enough, you’ll keep pushing out of hunger for the goal. My biggest lessons were learning to sit still but still continuing to be a student. I also learned that my art is my art so I just need to express it in the way that feels right to me. I also learned how to release my baggage and keep going, in the last 3 years I’ve been in 5 states just collecting images and being inspired, some might say it’s a red flag but I got something out of it. I want the world to take away this from my story, be fearless, be kind, keep working, travel often and forward. Continue to be inspired, be willing to put yourself out there, bless others when you can, learn to release as you go and know that you can do it. You’re going to fail A LOT before you get it right so you might as well enjoy the mistakes.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is known for its wings so my favorite wing spots are Atlanta wings on lowery, I have great memories there. Kameels inside of peachtree center, cleanest and best vegan friendly restaurant that’s independently owned. Ardens Garden, my favorite local gem. The most fresh tasting Caribbean food is calabash alley on candler road, I take everybody I know there. Mamas Cocina Latina on Piedmont, and it’s open 24 hours, best tacos hands down. Little five points and downtown near Peter street are just a couple of my favorite places to hangout for the eccentric and artistic aesthetic. Some of the best bars are in these areas and great for the type of images I like capturing. Krog street to see all the art in the tunnel. If Josh Dingle were hosting an art show I’d take them to see the show. I’m starting to think there’s an art show or two every week. Old fourth ward, Edgewood, west midtown and the auburn district. There’s so much to do I just don’t think a week would cover all there is or was to do before March 2020

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is to life! Life brought so many wonderful teachers into my existence (or nonexistence). Everyone I’ve crossed paths with, you’ve all taught me valuable lessons. Thank you to my family, my siblings and my earth mom because, little do you know, you’ve been my biggest cheerleaders.
