We had the good fortune of connecting with Aneesah Bray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aneesah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My business idea started by experiencing the creative ecosystem at a very young age, then envisioning ways that neglected creatives could be made whole again. After that, I began working and waiting for technology to catch up. As a bonus, the communal culture has also become accustomed to full IP ownership by the creatives themselves. Educating myself and passing along the knowledge in a summarized digestible way, then finding traditional and non-traditional funding for creatives is now my passion.

What should our readers know about your business?
Creative Collective Capital is a resource and consulting firm for the independent entertainment industry. We offer indie artists, labels, and filmmakers financial and business development services at a fair price so they can qualify for funding to support and grow their careers. C3 services include entertainment business strategy, team building, personal and business credit development, loans, grants, advances, investor relations, film funding, and income strategies. Our services were initially exclusively for the music industry but we recently partnered with RoadShow Equity Partners, an innovative film investment group, to help empower independent filmmakers as well. We collaborate so we can impact both the independent filmmaker and investor’s vision of this industry. We are excited to announce the development of our new podcast “Entertainment Business…Financed” as part of the C3 catalog of edutainment. It’s reminiscent of the 30 for 30 style interviews discussing industry finance. This has been an amazing journey for our team. Our office teammates Jon and Daniel have worked tirelessly to make sure my visions come to life and we are still working. There is a lot of work to still do and we appreciate the artists that have joined us for the ride.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend Donyetta came to town we would go for morning tea at Just Add Honey for tea, One Luv Cafe ATL for their delicious rotating Caribbean lunch, and find out what Fulton Films, the Mayor’s Office of Entertainment, GPP, WIFTA, Skillshot Women in Music have going on for the week so we could pop up, take her to her favorite Atlanta Institution Busy Bee Cafe for dinner and probably go to the movie at The Springs Cinema & Taphouse. Other than going out to one of Atlanta’s outstanding restaurants, I’m usually working but since my business is flexible, we might just chill at my house for the majority of the time. But knowing her, she will be working herself. She owns a real estate investment company called Equitymaxx in Chicago.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My story is a collective of so many people and learning facets. My lifelong best friend Donyetta Jenkins has been my mental stability since we were 11 years old. My children Adryan, GolaJaisv, Maya, Destine’ and Jamal have been my “Why” since day one and I’ve had many loves that supported (or not) my independence and drive which either gently pushed me or forced me to be myself. I have had the best of mentors from Catherine Whittaker, my middle school teacher, to the gentlemen that I currently work alongside at RoadShow Equity Partners. I receive constant encouragement from my local friends Armelia, Shannon, Josh, Steve, Roland, Kim, and Ray.
