Meet Amanda & Josh Hall | Foodie & Animal lover

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda & Josh Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda & Josh, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
With a strong passion for cooking great food and being huge animal lovers, we blended our passions and created ResQue Rubs. All of our rubs/seasonings are made from scratch in small batches, locally here in Cumming, GA and named after our fur babies. We wanted to create these delicious rubs/seasonings to share with others for easy and delicious cooking. With every purchase made, we donate a portion of our sales back to FurKids, the largest no-kill animal shelter for cats and dogs here in the Southeast.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Amanda has a long term career in Accounting, her day job, which has been a huge help for us in figuring out the accounting side and ongoing business needs of running a small business. Josh’s day job is in sales now, but he has a long history in the hospitality industry, which compliments our business model and is a strong value add. We both love to cook, whether it’s on our Big Green Egg, the grill or simply in the kitchen, and we love our furbabies so being able to bring these two passions together has been a really rewarding experience for us. Being able to create a business doing it, while getting to share our Rubs/Seasonings with others has been really cool. We want everyone to easily cook meals and enjoy great food using our product, while knowing they’re helping save a ResQue fur baby get closer to their forever home.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The are tons of things to do around town for sure, but these would be a few of the must do’s for us. We would have to take a day trip to Athens, to show them around the UGA campus, where Amanda went to school. Lunch at Amici, grab one of their amazing pizzas, grab a beer at Creature Comforts Taproom and walk down to the bridge to take pictures in front of Sanford Stadium. Would definitely have to take a day trip to Dahlonega for a some wine tastings and have lunch at Wolf Mountain Wine Vineyards, enjoy the best view and food in Dahlonega, plus we got married there coming up on 15 years ago!! Being huge college football fans, a trip to the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta and have lunch at Vortex for one of the best burgers in town would also be a must. Take the dogs to the Sawnee Mountain Preserve for a nice hike and beautiful views. One night for sure, we would fire up our green eggs and make dinner using our ResQue Rubs, while enjoying some Wolf Mountain wine that we got on our day trip there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many folks along the way that have helped and supported us in so many ways. Big shoutouts to our parents, brothers, sisters and families for their support and testing all of our rubs along this journey. Also our friends that support us, bounce ideas, taste test and order while continuing to help spread the word about our business. Kandice with Kandies’ Korn deserves a huge shoutout, she was very gracious with her time at the start, helping us learn more about starting a small business and supports us to this day. All the other awesome small business vendors we’ve met since we got started continually coming together to support one another and help share about our business. Another big shoutout goes out to Shoutout Atlanta for considering ResQue Rubs and helping us spread our brand.
