We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Hyacinth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, what do you attribute your success to?
My Faith. I would have to say the most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is my faith in myself, my vision for the woman I am becoming, and most importantly, my faith in God who gave me my business and success. To speak about my success and my business, first, we have to go way back to 2018 when God gave me the idea of turning an interest into a business, but of course, my lack of obedience at the time and lack of faith in believing that I could actually be successful hindered my motivation to finish what I began. In 2018, I started dabbling in candle making and also set up an inspirational Instagram page called Candle Communiqué to promote mental, emotional & spiritual healing through community & conversation.

It was not until 2022 that I received confirmation while at a church conference that I was supposed to move forward and not look back. And so I did!

I researched, tested, bought materials, made a website, and logged back into my Instagram page, Candle Communiqué, trusted God’s lead, and gave Him full control. I officially launched Candles by TheAmhyacinth LLC. in April 2023

What should our readers know about your business?
The Amhyacinth LLC. is my small business that includes Candle Communiqué, Candles by The Amhyacinth, as well as HO•LY Apparel. I am also a faith-based content creator. My candles are 100% soy wax candles made with love and pure, non-toxic ingredients. Every candle is adorned with Bible scripture, hand-poured, and made with custom blended fragrances. My candles are also environmentally friendly. I’m very proud of my first collection! The Worthy, Love, and Hyacinth Candles are actually named after my own name! Amanda means Worthy of Love, and Hyacinth is a beautiful flower. It is considered a symbol of magnificence, peacefulness, and assurance.

HO•LY Apparel came a bit after I launched my candle business. My love for fashion and style inspired me to design gear that embodies the essence of faith. I want to inspire others to wear their faith proudly and to walk boldly. It’s where faith meets fashion! I’m excited to see what I can create next.

Time management has been a major key in where I am today, and trusting my intuition. It was not easy, being used to a corporate America 9 to 5 schedule to now including working on my own business daily. I had to learn how to create a schedule that would allow work/life balance while still hitting my goals. One challenge was thinking my ideas would not sell. I had to have faith that there was an audience out there for me that could appreciate what I have to offer, and since I launched in April 2023 the support from most has been heartwarming while the lack of support from some has been a lesson in resilience. I learned to move past imposter syndrome and have patience with myself. Everything happens at the right time.

I would love the world to understand that taking a leap of faith always leads to growth. It’s far more fulfilling to attempt and stumble than to never try at all.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta has a lot to offer! I would take them to the High Museum to check out an exhibit. We would go to The Battery for a game or to hang out by the stadium. Marietta Square is always having some kind of fair or Art Walk. Hike at Kennesaw Mountain and go for a bike ride on the Belt Line. Grab some Trinidadian food at Tassa’s Roti Shop, or Velvet Taco. Even drive out to Chateau Elan for a wine tasting. We would also go to church on Sunday.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many people come to mind! Two of the hardest-working women I know to start: my grandmother whom I affectionately called Nana, who sacrificed, always gave and showed me what dedication and hard work is. She is the reason I am who I am today. My mother is a boss and supportive, she sets goals and accomplishes them, rain or shine! My sister in Christ, Israel, who I affectionately call Cookie. She encouraged me to start my business. I do not think I would have if it were not for her kind words, interceding, and prayers for me. Lastly, my friend Terry, who has taught me so much about faith, business, and a wealthy mindset.
