We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssa Hollis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alyssa, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
I think that the one thing that outsiders to the photography industry are not aware of is how much local photographers compare themselves to others in the community.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My photography career started about 12 years ago and it’s been nothing short of a wild ride. I am honestly the most proud of the fact that I never quit. I never let the competition beat me so far down that I give up. The photography industry is growing at a rapid rate every year and that can put crazy pressure on those of us who have been at this for over a decade. I began 2 years ago teaching other photographers in my area and all over the world and it was the best choice I ever made. I have created life long friendships by being an encourager and lifting others up when they are down because this job is not for the faint of heart. It takes a lot of mind power to remain strong in a line of work that is constantly telling you who you should be. I believe what sets me apart from other photographers and photography educators is that I care more about people than the profit. As a family photographer in the Atlanta area I provide boutique level service full of appreciation and compassion. I help families document their family in each season of life by creating heart felt images that they can display in their homes for years to come.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Johnathan. Without his support and help through some of the best and worst times of owning a small business- I am not sure I could have survived it this long. He truly is selfless in helping me achieve my goals as a family photographer.
