We had the good fortune of connecting with Alphonso Harvey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alphonso, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Help To Moms was formed after my wife and I were expecting our first child. At that point I had been selling medical devices for a decade. My wife started to utilize the products that I previously sold to provide herself pain relief. I believed that our products could help many other expecting moms, so we began to offer our Pregnancy Support Kit to others. The solution I developed for her worked wonderfully, and in the very first year thousands of women were helped by utilizing our system that allows them to manage pain and assist in the prevention of deadly blood clots.
What should our readers know about your business?
We have a streamline onboarding process when a patient uses our propriety platform. The process for them becomes very simple. A mom is able to obtain access to our service offering by spending five minutes on our website completing a short survey. What we are most proud of is that we grew from a team of two to a team of six during the pandemic and during that time we’ve been able to grow from a couple of hundred to several thousand expecting mothers helped a year during that same time period. What I want people to know is that Help To Moms is here to help Moms to be have safer pregnancies. Lessons I’ve learned along the way is to start with a good idea and just keep going.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them for a cigar at my private club The Standard. We would have dinner there and I would recommend the Sea Bass or the Lamb Chops. We would then go the next night to Fifth & Broadway to catch the sights and sounds of Downtown Nashville. We would probably schedule all of this around a concert that would be at Bridgestone Arena which is right across the street from Fifth & Broadway, and on all of these nights we would more than likely make our way to EG+MC for late night cocktails in our neighborhood. We would also take a trip down to the African American Music Museum, https://nmaam.org. There is far to much to do in Nashville so I would encourage them to come back a few times to get the full experience.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my wife for the motivation and inspiration. I would also like to thank my team for helping to execute our shared vision. We want to thank the Mothers that trust us in this journey with our pregnancy support kit, breast pumps, and other supportive supplies. We most certainly want to thank our community partners that come together and provide additional support to our Help To Moms community.
