We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Loney-Hawkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was what could I do that I don’t see a lot of people doing? At the time I knew I wanted to start a children’s boutique when I was working as a teacher in 2013. I saw a lot of my peers selling hair or women’s clothing which inspired me to be an entrepreneur. While brainstorming one day, I realized I could create a business that I would have a passion for. I’m very passionate about working with kids and making a difference in their lives. I also love cute clothes and dressing nice on a budget. I combined both of those together and decided to do kids clothes that would be stylish and affordable.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Allure Kids Kouture is an online boutique established in 2013. The online boutique was founded by two Florida born sisters, Alicia and Anise , who had a dream and passion for high fashion but at a great price. The sisters believe children should be able to express themselves through their clothing without compromising their parent’s budget. The boutique also prides itself in customer satisfaction.  As a business owner, I care about my customers and if something isn’t right I will try my best to fix it. I got where I am today by doing a lot of children’s fashion shows in 2016. The shows helped my brand get more exposure and recognition. I also did a lot of pop up shops in 2020.  The networking I was able to do at the pop up shops increased my sales. However, I did learn that every pop up shop you do you won’t always make a profit, but as long as you are able to network it’s still a win. I would want the world to know about my brand because I focus on building children’s confidence. When I do photo shoots, fashion shows, etc I always tell the children I work with how they can accomplish anything they want to be, how well they did in a show, or how beautiful their pictures are during shoots. It takes a village to raise a child so when I interact with a child I’m a part of that village for the moment. I also take pride in selling affordable, fashionable, but still age appropriate clothing. The clothing I provide is good quality and very durable.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my best friend to Tribeca! Their blueberry lemon drop is the best! We would eat at Cafe Social House because their food is bomb and the customer service is amazing.

We would definitely hit a few lounges and bars around the area.
I love candles so we would go to Bear and Honey in Little Five Points to make our own candles with our favorite scents. For a classy day out I would take my best friend to Chateau Elan to drink wine and eat dinner. It’s so much to do in Atlanta!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank God for the many blessings. I would like to give credit to my husband, Jason for always pushing me. I’ve had Allure Kids Kouture since 2014 but unfortunately I wasn’t consistent with it. April of 2020, he encouraged me to start back working on it and ever since I’ve been doing very well. He’s truly my backbone and motivation coach. I would also like to thank my sister Anise, who helped me get the paperwork together for Allure Kids Kouture. In 2013, I told her what I wanted to do but didn’t know where to start as far as the legal process and she took it from there. Years later,  I learned how to file for a LLC, EIN, etc. My best friend Jarelle who has been a part of my life for 23 years. Jarelle always encourages me to be a risk taker and pushes me to my limits. Last but not least my girls Jalisa and Tishana, they both helped me with a lot of my pop up shops and knew my store like the back of their hand. Last but not least, all my customers who always show so much support.
