Meet Alicia Jones | Realtor® & Investor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alicia, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business, AliciasRealEstate, LLC is dedicated to having a positive social impact on the community by helping accelerate economic growth through neighborhood revitalization and investment. I’ve been a real estate investor since 2007 and a licensed Realtor® since 2015. My mission is to educate others on how to utilize real estate as not only a way to build wealth, but also to build financially strong communities and provide much needed affordable housing. We also partner with Junior Achievement to provide financial literacy education and teach entrepreneurship basics of to middle and high school students. The bottom line is we view our business as more than just a company – we see it as an integral part of the community with a responsibility to help others.

What should our readers know about your business?
It’s been quite a journey getting my real estate business off the ground. When I first started as an investor, I was a dual career agent working as a luxury retail manager full-time. My background is that of over 20 years of customer service, sales/marketing and management experience. With the advent of E-commerce I saw the handwriting on the wall and knew it was time to “re-invent” myself and pursue a new career. I had no idea what that looked like. But I knew I enjoyed working with people and finding solutions for their needs. I had a knack for selling and successfully managing a retail business. My career as a sales and retail manager was my “training ground” for becoming an entrepreneur.
I juggled real estate investing while working full-time and then had the bright idea, “hey why not get my real estate license so I can broker my own deals?” I found a Groupon for a real estate course, took it and passed the exam on the first attempt. What I quickly discovered was that passing the real estate exam did NOT teach me the business of HOW TO SELL real estate. Passing the exam didn’t teach me how to properly set-up a business structure, how to establish budgets, processes and systems, manage finances and attract the clients I desired to work with on a consistent basis. I had to invest again in myself by hiring a real estate coach/mentor.
But I persevered through with determination and hard work. I’ve built a successful business known for exceptional client service that values people, creativity and integrity while making a positive impact within communities locally as and internationally. I’ve sold properties in Dominican Republic and often advise my investor clients don’t be afraid to venture into markets they’re unfamiliar with. I want people to know that with faith, a positive mindset and dedication to your craft, you can achieve your goals and dreams! The road won’t be easy, but the rewards of entrepreneurship are so fulfilling if you stick with it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Me and my bestie love to travel! If we’re together we’re more than likely going on an adventure to include a couple different cities, countries or continents. We’ve traveled to Rome, Florence, Paris, Cancun, Aruba and Dominican Republic. In Rome, we visited The Vatican, partied in nightclubs in Florence and in Paris we visited the Effiel Tower. We’re overdue for a trip now LOL. For our next trip we’ve talked about cruising the Mediterranean.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely, there have been MANY people who contributed to my success. My biggest cheerleader and supporter is my mother! I’d like to Shoutout my mother, Patricia for allowing me to leave our hometown of Detroit, MI after graduating high school to attend one of the finest HBCU’s, Clark Atlanta University. I now realize what a huge sacrifice that was and I thank her tremendously for envisioning what my future could hold by letting me leave the nest and grow into the woman I am today.
