We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Holliman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work life balance has become increasingly important to me over time. In the past, I felt like I needed to always be available. As I grew in my career, I realized that balance is essential for both my well-being and my creativity. I have learned to set clear boundaries and focus on work during working hours, then give myself permission to disconnect afterward. I make it a priority to rest, recharge, and spend meaningful time with family and friends. Creating this balance allows me to be more present, healthier, and more effective in both my personal life and my work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a fashion designer, I often feel like a scientist in a creative lab. Every collection, every garment, starts with curiosity, imagination, and experimentation. I am always seeking the perfect formula, where innovation meets elegance and artistry meets technique. Fashion, for me, is emotional and personal, and that drives my dedication to perfecting my craft.

What sets my brand apart is our commitment to creating custom eveningwear for individuals celebrating meaningful moments in their lives. Each garment is handcrafted, thoughtfully designed, and made specifically for the person who will wear it. These are not just clothes, they are memories, confidence, and legacy pieces brought to life through detailed craftsmanship.

My journey has been anything but easy. Building a brand requires resilience, patience, and a willingness to learn as you go. There were moments of doubt and times when it felt like I was figuring out the business side in real time. What carried me through was passion, continuous learning, and the belief that when you truly love what you do, you stay curious, you keep growing, and you find a way to evolve.

Along the way, I learned to trust myself, protect my vision, and stay committed to excellence. Every challenge taught me something, every setback built strength, and every success reminded me why I started.

What I want the world to know about my brand is that Farrierbell Couture represents artistry, individuality, and intention. We do not simply make garments, we create moments. We honor personal stories through design, and we celebrate every client like a masterpiece in progress. My journey is rooted in heart, heritage, and the belief that luxury should feel personal and deeply meaningful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, I would make sure they experienced the heart, culture, and energy of Atlanta. A week here deserves the perfect mix of good food, fun, relaxation, and memorable moments.

We would start with amazing meals at some of my favorite spots, including Maggiano’s for classic Italian comfort, Ruth’s Chris Steak House for an elegant dinner, and Yard House for great food with a lively atmosphere. We would also make time for classic fun at Dave and Buster’s, because I believe a little friendly competition and laughter always sets the tone for a great trip.

We would explore the city, beginning at Atlantic Station for shopping and people watching, then spend an afternoon at The High Museum of Art appreciating creativity and inspiration. We would enjoy a relaxing evening at the AMC theater with popcorn and a good movie. For adventure and thrills, Six Flags would definitely be on the list, followed by peaceful moments walking The BeltLine and taking in the city views.

No visit would be complete without a trip to the Georgia Aquarium and the Zoo to see the beauty of nature and wildlife up close. Throughout the week we would make space for genuine connection, enjoying game nights with family and friends and spending time with my circle, including Carl, Robert, Corey, Shelton, and Ian. For me, the best part of any experience is the people you share it with.

Atlanta has so much to offer, from incredible food and culture, to entertainment and adventure. The city feels alive, creative, and full of personality, and there is nothing better than sharing that energy with someone you care about.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
On September 10, 2024, I lost my mother, Linda Mae Holliman. She was my greatest supporter, my first teacher, and the person who believed in me long before I believed in myself. Since I was a child, she instilled discipline, creativity, and the work ethic that shaped who I am today. She taught me how to navigate the world, how to stand strong in my purpose, and how to carry myself with grace.

Everything I have accomplished, and everything I am becoming, is rooted in the values she poured into me. I would not be the person I am without her guidance, love, and encouragement. I dedicate this shoutout to my mother, Linda Mae Holliman, with gratitude and deep love, because my success is a reflection of the foundation she built in me.
