We had the good fortune of connecting with Aleta Neal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aleta, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always been the historian for my family and friends, taking pictures and keeping records for everyone. During COVID, I decided to make it an official business and help other families. Since then, I’ve been perfecting my craft and made a focus on Maternity & Newborn Photography, trying to find ways to reach Moms who are pregnant with either their first or even fifth baby. I strive to make each maternity session feel different and I love returning clients where I can really show them the difference each pregnancy can bring. I have curated a “Client Closet” full of beautiful gowns and wraps that my clients can use during their sessions without the stress of finding an outfit, and I’ve teamed up with expert makeup artists to have on site if needed! I offer Outdoor or In Studio options where I play with lighting and props during each session according each client’s individual personality. I also make it a point to subscribe to up-to-date programs and apps to make the experience seamless for new or repeat clients from the inquiry process to receiving final images.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I consider myself an Artistic Creator. I see past just the lens of my camera. I like to create ideas digitally or creatively with fabrics, props, or whatever I can find that matches the idea in my mind. My style is bold and bright and you’ll see that represented in my work.
I’m most excited to see the faces of my clients (specifically maternity clients) when they see what I create for them.
Often, they are amazed by what I present and it’s typically not something they imaged, but something they allude to me either in conversation or in meeting them in person.
It’s taken me lots of time to perfect my work and I’m still learning.
I’ve learned to stay true to myself and have determined there is no one exactly like me who can create the art that I create.
I want the world to know I love photography so much I’d do it all day if I could and would even do it for free.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My town is Woodstock, GA. If I had someone visiting, I would take them on a “Welcome to Woodstock” Tour. We would have breakfast at Copper Coin Coffee, known for its cozy atmosphere and artisan lattes.
Then we would stroll along Downtown Woodstock, exploring boutique shops and check out the murals for Instagram-worthy moments.
One afternoon, we would have a picnic at Dupree Park, then head to the Reformation Brewery for refreshing local craft beer.
It may take a full day, but it would be worth it to take a Day Trip to Lake Allatoona which is just a short drive away. There we could rent a boat, kayak, or paddleboard for some lake fun.
At night we can try out Downtown Woodstock nightlife at Salt Factory Pub and their excellent beer selection and Pure rooftop restaurant where they play a nice selection of music.
The last day we can try out Farmers Market & Culinary Treats for fresh produce, local goods, and live music. Then drive up to the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta in Woodstock where they sell name brand merchandise for really great prices.
There’s lots to do in Woodstock.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my shout out to my Mom and Dad. My parents have given me great support and encouragement throughout all my life and I know I can count on them for advice and mentorship, always and unconditionally. A “design” profession is something my parents had to get use to at first, but it was always my passion even when I was in elementary school and we had career day. Since then, they’ve seen my passion grow into a calling that I know they are proud of.
