We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Thomason and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adam, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Belief that your purpose was higher than a 9-5 job. I was commissioned to do three documentaries in one year in 2018, that took me to Ghana, Colombia, Venezuela, Malta, Italy and France on assignment. I was fortunate to win some awards. A long term friend of mine Lecrae wanted to team up and by hard work and faith we launched 3 Strand Films

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me a part is that I’m 1% of those who make it out of my Detroit environment. I call it seeing a Pegasus, flying horse. As far as what sets me apart. My faith in God, I’m an extremely hard worker, I’m grateful for people and the stories we tell at 3 strand Films are honest dealing with vices and virtues of the world. I learned from the late and great Andre Leon Talley, say thank you, treat people well and you’ll get far-don’t use people love them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would tour them around the cabbage town and belt line graffiti. We’d take in breakfast at The daily, buttermilk kitchen and brunch at the Chastain. We’d definitely check out Ponce city market, Krog street market and puruse piedmont park, Inman park and the high village area. Take in some museum art, tour SCAD, get laughs and drinks at a comedy club, tour east atl, pizza at the battery and call it a week.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother Denise Smith. She survived being shot five times when I was 12 for doing her job as a probational officer. No one matches her fight, determination, faith and sincerity.
