Meet Abria Green | Wine Educator/Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Abria Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Abria, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe taking risk is important. It has played a huge role in my career today. When I first started, I didn’t know anyone personally who was a wine educator and consultant, today I have gained mentors and friends in the industry. I have been blessed with so many opportunities because people took a chance on me. I believe taking risk can uncover so many things about you that you didn’t even know.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I am a wine educator and consultant. What I do is educate people on wines , teach them how to build their cellar, and how to pair wines with food. I have always been in the hospitality industry working in hotels and I have always had a passion for wine. I never knew I could make a career out of it. I attended a tasting at someone’s home and listen to the educator explain things such as the right temperature to serve wine, why wine taste different from one part of the world to another and more! I was amazed at all the knowledge I was gathering and how much fun it was. I shortly after that decided that I could do the same. I worked for a company for 2 years doing these in home tastings and then transitioned to doing tastings and consultations with my own business. What sets me apart from others is I make wine fun! I pair wine with ice cream and junk food. I take the intimidating part out of wine and turn it to something people can enjoy. My journey has been a beautiful journey thus far, however not easy. I have found myself in spaces where I have dealt with backlash on my teaching styles and things like that ,but I have more supportive people in my circle then unsupportive people and that is how I overcame that.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I truly love Atlanta. It is so many cool things to do here! First we will start off at brunch, some of my favorite brunch places includes Breakfast at Barney’s, Ms. Iceys, and Milk & Honey. Then we will be doing some shopping at maybe Perimeter mall. Last we will grab drinks at Apt. 4B. On the weekend, we are getting on the road and heading to Dahlongea to go to the vineyards. It is so many cool vineyards out there. Some of my favorite are Cavender Creek, Kaya, and Wolf Mountain.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There is so many people and books that inspire me. I will say my number 1 support system is my family and my tribe. I am so grateful to be around people who are always uplifting and available to bounce ideas off of.
