We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Jordan Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaron, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand comes in two parts for me; One, understanding the purpose that God has placed before me and showing me the vision of that purpose being fulfilled. On this journey of life, we oftentimes become so wrapped up in the thoughts of people and their views of us that we tend to forget about the authenticity of our purpose and calling which is our dreams. Secondly, the blessing in recognizing the gift of my wife. Having someone in your corner that is constantly pushing you and nurturing you to continue on your journey to manifest your dreams is a very powerful thing. When I wanted to quit, she would not let me. She nurtured me through the doubts and through the uncertain moments on this journey. It is only the beginning.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Over the last 10 years, my brand has grown drastically. Most people seeing the end results now would say that I moved and transcended quickly; but that was totally not the case.
Just like anyone, we have things in life that really test who we are and send us through those trying moments in life. In the middle of 2011, I was just coming out of a depression mentally and emotionally. I was battling the fact that during that time, I bought 3 rings and was engaged 3 times, between 2008-2010. (Yes, you read that correctly! I bought 3 rings and was engaged 3 different times within an 18-24 month period). But what I really want people to understand is where my mental capacity was during that time. I was broken and needed the validation of love.
After coming out of these trying times, I began to notice that women started asking me for advice from a male perspective; but I was delivering from a very unbiased standpoint. One of the women made a joke and stated, “you should write a book with all this good advice you are giving!” Not knowing she was speaking into my life subconsciously.
In 2012, I started writing my first book called, “The Power Within, A Woman’s Worth: From Both Sexes.” During this time, I was still working a full-time job for an Airline. I worked late nights on the job, got off at midnight, and would be up for another 2 hours typing away. My job relocated me to Middle TN. At this point, I was almost done writing my book. When I was close to being finished, I put together a 6-7 city tour after my move to Middle TN. Even if no one showed up, I was excited to just be in another city promoting and speaking about something I am passionate about – dating and relationships!
Fast forward to now, after having a successful radio show from 2014-2017, running a successful Women’s Relationship Conference from 2014-2019, and being featured on a multitude of outlets and panels; everything with my brand has shifted to TV.
In October 2019, I came up with a concept for a TV Show but tailoring it to my niche. I did not know if it was going to be successful or not. At this point, I have already been told “no” on a plethora of occasions by other productions and regional networks; so what was there to lose. So I scraped together $800, paid my videographer and an editor to shoot a concept that I could market for interest. Only one network gave me a chance with my programming concept and it was a regional network. After that, “Café Conversations with Mr. Know Your Worth” was birthed.
Still with no major Network production budget, I was able to contract out a film company and executive produce 19-20 episodes of my own TV Show which premiered March 2020 in the homes of over 2 million people.
In September 2021, after much anticipation and waiting, I have legally assumed 100% ownership of my TV Show content and Brand with catalog of 19-20 shows – on TV each and every Friday night 8pm CST on regional platform Christian Television Network_WHTN empowering and enriching people.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a Cigar and Bourbon Lover, Monte Cristo in Nashville or The Burn in Atlanta would be one of the top spots to just relax and unwind.
Bar Louie has always been one of my favorite spots, but I have a new found spot which has been my go to and the go to for whoever was out with me on the town, “EG MC” in Nashville. Awesome atmosphere and awesome to unwind after a long day.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife Ashley Jordan is the CEO of our family legacy most importantly, if it was not for her pushing me behind the scenes and encourage me to keep going over the last 10 years, not sure how things would have paned out. But also having the right team in place that sees and trust your vision. Huge thanks and gratitude to my Publicist, my agent, and my Entertainment Lawyers as well.
As child growing up, seeing the grind of my parents together making sure the family was ok through the hard moments lite a fire in me to want to do for them in a major way as I got older. My Dad wakes up every morning still to this day over 30 years doing what he loves to do, and does it with no complaints; every through the struggle moments. I guess the work ethic of my father was instilled in me to push through the grind and struggle.
Lastly, my 16 year daughter is the greatest gift in life; being a role model for her and someone that she can be proud of has been one of my most defining moments in life.
