We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Grabol and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I am a big believer in being comfortable being uncomfortable. This means taking risks but it also means being willing to do things that others can’t and won’t do. In my line of work it is risky at times to have certain conversations or make controversial decisions. Because I am more comfortable in areas in which others might feel discomfort, it makes me able to have a “risky” conversation or take a risk with a decision. Of course I am incredibly logical and strategic in my plans. But finding a level of comfort being uncomfortable allows you to charter into territories that are unseen without feeling overwhelmed or emotional.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
This year our company has celebrated our 40th year in business. Our company has been in business longer than I have been alive! We are proud to continue to be female- owned and operated. Our company is employee-centered with deep roots in our local community. One thing I have learned is that you must be willing the be flexible and adapt and change to your circumstances. When the pandemic hit earlier this year we remained open as an essential healthcare business. We were forced to think of ways to minimize administrative office support and work from home if possible. Ultimately we came up with hybrid work plans that included a 4-day workweek which was really a mental health day. Having a 3-day weekend every week has been one of the most beneficial things we could have offered during a really stressful time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Holy Taco in East Atlanta Village to eat-their corn in amazing! Go for a bike ride at Stone Mountain Park then check out Las Brasas in Decatur for authentic Peruvian food. Feed the ducks at Avondale Lake. Watch a movie at the drive in theater Starlight on Moreland Avenue and make sure to get ice cream from Morelli’s first. Head down to Grant Park to the zoo-you can’t visit Atlanta without seeing the pandas! Krog Street Market is a really cool place to check out with locally owned shops.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I was 17 years old I met my current business partner. She has believed in me from the beginning and poured tremendous energy into cultivating me into the person that I am today. Without her guidance and support I would not be where I am now.
