Meet Quasheem D Herring: Actor, Director, and Producer of 2 Words CheckMate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Quasheem D Herring and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quasheem D, what do you attribute your success to?
First and foremost I would have to say my faith in God and my belief in true work ethic, what I mean by that is this God has blessed me with unbelievable talent, great hardworking individuals, and a never quit attitude no matter what stands in front of me. So with that confidence no matter how far it looks or how long it takes I see, feel, and know the success is coming even before it arrives. I believe you must visualize the dream and feel it in your toes before it truly comes to fruition.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So as an Actor/Director/ and Producer I would have to say what sets us apart is being out of the box and are a keen eye and ear for quality over quantity. What do I mean by that simple when it comes to acting my approach is one of award-winning because I’m very particular, I truly transform into every character I am blessed to play and I never compromise my morals no matter what the dollar sign or check encloses.

Me as a director I feel so much pressure to truly showcase and bring out the inner all-star in every actor I work with I feel to be a director it’s not enough to just say action or cut you must be able to develop, encourage and speak to your artists to truly deliver an unbelievable masterpiece.

Now being a producer is the start because I must have an imagination and a true vulnerability to tell these stories that people are scared to tell or showcase and stand behind artistic expression and not let the world downplay or change our vision. After all, the raw, ugly, beautiful projects are here to stay.

Okay now, what am I most proud about I would say the number of incredible projects I have been able to complete and work on in such a short period of time as a producer and director. As of now 2 Words CheckMate has produced 2 Short Films 1 Feature film and is currently working on 3 more feature films that will all be complete by this year 2021. This is unheard of when we have only been going strong for not even a year it’ll be a year in Sep 2021 which is incredible, to say the least.

As an actor, my biggest accomplishment is my impeccable resume but it’s how I started as an extra, and within 6 months of traveling for featured extra and special ability roles state to state city to city and 50,000 miles later I put myself in a great place to be recognized as one of the greats because of how I started but that grind of being available and not waiting on the handout is what I’m most proud of.

The challenges that arose no matter if it was money, time, or roadblocks I just truly kept my faith in God that he gave me this gift and he would make a table for me and a path for me to make it and continue to make it to be a true walking testimony that nothing is too big for God. When it comes to our brand I want people to realize you don’t have to have all the money in the world or a whole bunch of help or support you have to have a belief, a work ethic and a small investment in yourself and God will take care of the rest because 2 Words CheckMate stands by great talent still reigns supreme if you are good at what you do and want it bad enough you will be discovered and if you are an actor, actress or an unbelievable crew member we will discover you and recognize your talent and unleash you to the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So Atlanta is huge and has so many great places I’m simple and grind and work a lot sometimes 15 plus on set alone but when I get some free time and am not with my family and had to give you an itinerary I would say eat at Juicy Crab, Drink at Roots Pressed Juices, Visit the trap museum and hang out at multiple lounges but if I had to highlight one lounge, in particular, it would have to be the Encore Hookah bar great vibes and atmosphere and last but not least if you looking for a hotel or place to lay your head the Hilton is what I stand by and the canopy brought to you by Hilton Atlanta midtown is unmatched. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, I give all the honor and glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ my talent is God-Given and is nothing without him being the guide and blessing me with the opportunities. Next, I would have to say there are a few different people that I want to shout out or credit for my success my Family, Eric Thomas, Alan Watts, The Goat Denzel Washington, and Booker Snow III. First, is my family which I credit my Mom & Dad because of how great they raised me and how I wanted to give my Kids 10 times more than they gave me so I knew I had to go against the grain and take a very unselfish route to accomplish that. Next Eric Thomas the hip-hop preacher it was his Guru Story that really spoke to me and truly put things in perspective and took me to that next gear he is a motivator beyond the word. Third would be Alan Watts great speech “What if Money Was No Object” because so many people live this life and hate what they do but they do it because the money is good but to me that’s asinine and a cycle that needs to end and it starts with me and my family. Fourth would be the great Denzel Washington he told me and showed me at a young age that a No gets you closer to that yes and the most important thing you can do is help people and live by once you get there to reach back bring someone else up and change people lives with your choices and next to be the very best by no matter who or what stands in front of you put on your best because hard work works. Lastly is my Business partner and true Brother from another Booker Snow III we meet at a call center 2 or 3 years ago and he saw something in me and I saw something in him and he truly challenged me and continues to challenge me with his profound scriptwriting which elevates my acting and my directing and I truly feel with both of our work ethic that is unmatched by anyone right now in this industry we are destined for greatness and a 10 plus year run of success so sit back, watch, look, listen and remember that.
