Meet Tierra Lamour: Licensed Esthetician|Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tierra Lamour and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tierra, how do you think about risk?
Risks are inevitable. In order to grow and see change within yourself and the areas around you, you have to take risks even if they scare you. I’ve learned that we cannot be too arrogant to think that we will always “have time” to do a task or goal. Do it that day. You may never get the chance tomorrow. Since adopting that mindset my life has done a complete 360. I am less timid, more inclined to act, & my esthetic business has been built on the foundation of risk alone.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Formally known as Lashed by Lamour, I started off in the popular Field of eyelash extensions. Upon meeting new people and becoming knowledgeable about the beauty industry, I became hungry to learn more. After gaining experience in lashing, I decided to become an aesthetician. Shortly after starting classes, I learned that I was pregnant. However this did not discourage me from finishing. I completed my course of two weeks before giving birth to my daughter and went on to receive my license. As a new mom, it was important to me to balance home life and work so I can see it to juggle both. But I knew that in order to run a successful business I had to push through in spite of being a new mom. Watering my business meant changing my name. Shortly after, EstheticX by Lamour was born. I have always been passionate about my clients and my mission has stayed the same from the beginning: to build long-term relationships by providing quality product and service in a relaxing, caring environment.

What sets me apart from other esthetic companies is that I look at skincare as a lifestyle. Growing up in a low income black community, we always made to believe that facials and taking care ourselves was considered a LUXURY rather than a necessity and/or apart of your every day lifestyle. That’s not necessarily true. Your skin is the largest organ on your body. Why wouldn’t it be the most cared for? I teach my clients the importance of skin health and how to maintain at home all the while making them feel luxurious when they lay on my table. Men, women, & non-binary alike.

I may talk as though things went smoothly through my journey but I had to have the courage just like anyone else to take my craft seriously and believe in myself. I was working at good paying job in a highly stressful environment. I worked long hours and couldn’t parent or practice my craft as much as I wanted which I felt was hindering the growth of my business and myself from within. After careful consideration, I saved my last 3 checks and stepped away to a bigger calling for me. The first few months were scary. Some days i’d have clients and some days it was a ghost town. But I kept in my mind that this was just the beginning of the transition from lash technician to licensed esthetician. People had to see me do the work in order to believe. I have been up for the task. Since beginning my clientele has tripled and I have gained the trust of my clients which means a lot to me. To trust someone with the condition of your skin is equivalent to a man trusting you as his barber or a woman trusting you with her eyebrows. There are LEVELS! Haha

I thrive on making my clients feel important and good about themselves. While treating skin is #1, treating a PERSON right is #1.5. For those who aren’t familiar with EstheticX by Lamour, all you need is one service and I guarantee that you will be back strictly on the customer care alone. It’s one to remember.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am from the city of Atlanta so any time anyone visits I am the first person they call. It really depends on the person and what they are into which will make or break the trip. No matter what day of the week it is, there is always SOMETHING to do. Sunday, we would have brunch at BQE or Oak because there’s always a party, great drinks and food.. Monday & Tuesday would be spent doing sight seeing type things such as the Coca Cola Factory and the Georgia Aquarium. It’s warm out, so a hike up Stone Mountain would be great. Wednesday we would go for a bike ride at the Belt line & have a picnic at Piedmont park. That night we would check out Ponce City Market. The attractions there are kid/ family friendly and intimate for couples. There pretty much everything to do: site see, shop, & eat. Thursday we would have breakfast Breakfast at Barney’s because their breakfast is DELICIOUS. Later in the day we would try iFly. It is an indoor sky diving place. If you’ve ever wanted to sky dive but are afraid of hopping out of a plane this would be the perfect place to do it. The instructors are nice and hands-on with you to make the experience worth while. Depending on how tired my best friend is we would have some down time by having a drink and hookah at Divan’s. They have really good food with a great atmosphere and excellent service. I love to eat so any trips will revolve around foods. I appreciate a good meal haha

Friday we would go to Atlantic station to see a movie, eat a little & and shop. Then for the evening we would go to Mics Karaoke! It is the best karaoke place in Ga in my opinion. A bit far out, but worth the drive. It is decorated nicely and you will have a great time singing and being around people you love. Saturday we would eat at Roc South Cuisine for lunch, have some fun at Bowlero, & end the night at The Hide. My best friend would have a jam packed week but it would all be worth it! Every place I recommended has great service, there’s plenty to do or eat when you arrive and an authentic atmosphere. Commercial settings or stuffy places are the worst. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
