We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly & LaToya Duncan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly & LaToya, how does your business help the community?

When you think about love and it’s most valuable traits you as an individual often find yourself in a daze or in a state of warmth and happiness. You automatically display this feeling at work, in your life. with your family, in your business, and in friendship.
This is what we found in each other that became the driving force in our life. Martin Luther King said “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that, hate cannot drive out hate only LOVE CAN DO THAT.. LOVE, through our forum, we display love and love is what draws people to us, with the idea that they too can have what they desire without restrictions. The more we display healthy love the more life becomes easier for a struggling person, who is afraid to express to their family that Love comes in all forms. Where people are no longer afraid of their truth , the community wins. Our platform is not to just display lesbian love but to EMPOWER LOVE, to say that we can do ANYTHING.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Our vision to show the Black (L)GBTQIA community in a positive light is what sets us apart from the others. Our page @black.lesbian.love features beautiful couples from all walks of life and their positive representation for the LGBTQIA youth and those struggling with the idea of having a beautiful healthy relationship. We remember wanting to share our love and not having a platform to do so… so we started our own.

Our merchandise at black-lesbian-love was created to show our pride, that our LOVE is BLACK LOVE TOO and it matters.

We feature proposals, weddings, maternity photos, family photos, home ownership, singles every Friday and we’ve been very successful in connecting our followers with their soulmates. We would have to say that is what we’re most proud of and excited about.

It was not easy getting to where we are but every post that shows our community in a positive light is worth it all. We overcome our challenges by reminding ourselves of what we’re doing and how many lives we’ve touched.

We’ve learned that we can’t change the world but we can be a safe place for our community to show their love.

We want the world to know that our LOVE is BLACK LOVE too.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Monday Morning- We’d have breakfast at Atlanta’s Breakfast Club. The peach cobbler French toast, salmon croquets and grits is delicious.

Monday Night- We’d definitely go to the Painted Pin. The loaded fries and Mexican corn are our faves.

Tuesday Morning- We’d have breakfast at Breakfast At Barney’s. The 14k pancakes are everything and we’d take out the fish sandwich and fries and spend the rest of the day at Piedmont Park.

Tuesday Night- We’d have dinner at UBar the fried lobster is to die for and we’d just have to do the mechanical bull.

Wednesday Morning- We’d have breakfast at La Petit cafe. We love the French toast sandwich
Wednesday Night- We’d have dinner at GreedyMans BBQ and drinks at Cirque.

Thursday Morning- We’d have breakfast at Fin and Feathers ( Douglasville location) we love the chicken and waffles, lamb chops and grits and the fish and grits.

Thursday Night- We’d definitely go back to Fin and Feathers for dinner, probably eat the same thing its sooo good! Get a hookah, drinks, and turn up.

Friday Brunch- We’d go to our new fave Roc South Everything is too good! Fried chicken, mac and cheese, and candied yams, and a side of grits… oh and we can’t forget the French toast.

Friday Night- There’s no other place to be but BQE! We love the live band and the food is great! The red velvet waffle, fried chicken wings, short ribs, cat fish nuggets, and the Bronx Bomber drink are our faves!

Saturday- Breakfast at Star Food Lounge in Douglasville then spend the day cycling on the belt line and eating local foods.

Sunday- Brunch at Roc South nice crowd and environment.

Sunday Night-Sweet Georgia Juke Joint for dinner. The fried chicken, Mac and cheese and collard greens is a must. The color purple and Peachtree tea are our fave drinks.
