We had the good fortune of connecting with Petri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Petri, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose an artistic and creative career because it’s the only way I could truly express who I am and share my creativity with the world. It’s a great feeling to know that there are people who’d like to share your passion and see your vision. Specifically with directing and editing, your creative vision always literally manifest before your eyes…and that’s the best feeling in the world.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a director, editor and cinematographer. Since I’ve moved to Atlanta several years ago, I immediately saw there was no glass ceiling on creativity in this vast jungle we call creative art. What sets me and my business a part from others is that I have the ability to simultaneously see through my eyes as well as others, marry the two different visions and allow it to unfold and manifest on screen…right before their eyes.
I am most excited about my future. I know that with all of the hard work and commitment to my craft, the sky is the limit and I’ve not even seen an ounce of what’s to come. I believe in my product, my craft and everyone that I’ve ever worked with. Together we can make all our visions a reality.
Getting where I am today, wasn’t an easy process. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a story where real success came from easy beginnings. Lol. Being self taught allowed my to hone in on my craft and skills, and not only LOVE what I do, but truly appreciate the art, design and creativity of what I do. I took time to learn to be patient with myself and understand that everything doesn’t happen on your time, but when you’re ready.
Lastly, I want the world to know that this is only the beginning, and this is where it’s starting. This is history in the making.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of the greatest places in the area we would visit would be one of the open parks in the city or the Atlanta Belt Line. Both are ideal for families and good clean fun all year round. The Belt Line is full of amazing sculptures, like , tucked off breweries and burger joints and has one of the most beautiful sunsets on a fall day. If we wanted to get really crazy, we could even hit the indoor skydiving center.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I’d like to shoutout Shoutout Atlanta, I truly appreciate the opportunity and time that they’ve taken to consider me for their magazine.
Secondly, I’d like to give a shout-out to Jerrilyn Lake (@IndesKribeaBULL). As long as I’ve known her, she’s always been encouraging and supportive when it comes to guidance and mentorship.
