Meet Will Mewborn III: Chef & Caterer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Mewborn III and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Will, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
One piece of conventional advice I disagree with is going to college. In other words, the world and many parents put pressure on teenagers to go to college immediately after high school. At that age kids don’t truly know what they want to do in life and it could take years to discover their passion. Many young adults are rushed to discover their purpose, passion and skills due to the world persuading them. However, there are parents who go another route and don’t rush their kids. College can be helpful for many to discover themselves but for me I learned my calling outside of college. I completed two years in college for something that I am not doing right now. It took me approximately 6 years to discover a talent/skill that I was great at and love. Now imagine if I stayed all four years and received all this debt for something I only did because the world persuaded me. I tried many different things outside of college that helped me create my skill. For some people college can help them find their passion. However. I just feel going to college shouldn’t be America’s first option for young adults after high school when they’re still learning themselves.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have heard and seen that everyone has a gift. Some may never know what gift they have or may not use it. I realized that I have a few strong gifts but one gift really sets me apart from everyone. My personality sets me apart because I know there isn’t one person that is exactly like me. My personality has helped me receive a good portion of my connections and business partners. I am truly a people’s person and I do believe that was inherited from my parents. I am blessed to have parents who instilled great morals into me. There have been many times I put myself second for my clients and even non clients. I love to give and make sure people feel good around me. Impacting people by cooking them a meal, making them laugh, smile or just asking about their day can make a huge difference how they portray you. I have no problem going an extra mile for people who invest into me. Social media is so vital to entrepreneurs but if social media ended forever I know I can still thrive because my impact on people in person. Being talented is great but being a great person has more benefits.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow there is so much to do in Atlanta especially when it’s beautiful out. This is a tricky question. As far as food wise I would take them to a top black owned restaurant such as Roc South Cuisine Or Toast On Lenox. I would like to give a shout-out to Chef Virgil Harper. To hang out I would go to the Beltline, Ponce City Market and even Little Five Points. A place with a live band would be amazing too. To drink it would have to be anywhere that is a good vibe and clean. Having a clean establishment is vital when it comes to me spending my money with them. There are a bunch of things to do in Atlanta. Aslong as my best friend enjoys being around a good time and people were all set. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a few people I would love to shoutout here. If I had to pick one person it would be my good friend Davin Hanna. Davin is deceased and he left this world physically in July 2020. Davin and I met at a seafood restaurant in Alpharetta, GA in 2018 where we worked together for close to half a year. He left before me due to finding more money somewhere else. Davin was a true hustler and one of the smartest people I ever met my age. After we separated we stayed in touch but got closer in 2019 due to cooking together in Atlanta clubs and lounges. Our chemistry grew so fast we learned that we were similar and both talented. We agreed on many things and helped each other in many ways. Eventually Davin would become one of my best friends. We started to create a name for ourselves in Atlanta together and received success at a rapid pace. We figured the world is ours so we created mutual plans for our future. I planned on giving up on my business at one point after he died but I had to find a way to continue what we had planned. Also, continue what I already had planned for myself. It was not easy and still isn’t but I know he is here spiritually and happy for me. I will never forget Davin. I never met Nipsey Hussle but he was the closest person to me who resembled the mind of Nipsey.
