Meet TaVona Denise | Business Coach & Launch Strategist

We had the good fortune of connecting with TaVona Denise and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi TaVona, what do you attribute your success to?
Being myself online and treating people like I would offline. For some reason, many online business owners think that because they are building their business online instead of offline, they are excluded from connecting with and talking to people. So we see them create posts and send email blasts, but their message often misses the mark because they have not interacted with or gotten feedback from the people they want to work with. It’s a shame, because that approach makes marketing more difficult and keeps them from getting opportunities that would help their business grow faster.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a life coach first and business coach second with a specialty in launching group programs online. I have always been fascinated by the book, The Four Hour Work Week and support my clients in how to not only make the type of money they want, but have the type of impact AND lifestyle they want. Through my program Sold Out Services, I teach coaches, consultants and subject matter experts how to fill their practices and programs in 90 days using a launch model so they can focus on their favorite part, working with clients.
I am most excited about teaching more people this concept and helping them implement it because the way I teach marketing makes it fun, not only for the practitioner, but for the potential clients. I define a launch as a way to signify the start of something AND it is a way to get a lot of people to take a specified action at a given time, so using a launch model shortens the sales cycle and makes it easier for my clients to predict their income instead of being at the mercy of their referral sources.
This has been a long process for me, but I am SO glad I didn’t quit. I was trained as a physical therapist in 2001 and started a physical therapy contracting company in 2007. After reading the Four Hour Work Week, I started looking for ways I could create an online business that I could run from anywhere and after trying several avenues, I got certified with the Life Coach School in 2014. After a back injury in 2015 that stopped me from working with patients for about a year, I realized that I was not going to be able to lift patients forever and was going to have to get serious about figuring out what my next chapter would look like. Thankfully, I had been laying the ground work so when COVID “kicked” me out of the nest and all contractors were canceled at the hospital, I was able to take the work I was already doing with women in healthcare around burnout and how to make the transition from patient care to a coaching business and host and online summit. It was one of my proudest moments because I could help so many people who were scrambling to try to figure out how to operate online.
When they started calling the contractors back to the hospital, I chose to resign. That was scary and it surprised me when I had to grieve the profession I had been a part of for 19 years. Very few people talk about that part. People often talk about leaving the 9 to 5, but they don’t talk about the grieving process that you might go through, even if you wanted the change.
The biggest lesson I have learned throughout this time is that she who doesn’t quit, wins. I think part of the reason it took me so long to get to where I am today is because I thought that success was about having the perfect niche or tagline or program, so I changed my focus a lot in the beginning and it made it difficult for me to get traction. I also thought that success was about doing more. What I have realized in looking at myself and the clients I coach, is that success is about belief. If you believe that what you are doing is worth it, that what you want is possible, you will keep going in spite of the circumstances. If you don’t believe, or if you look to your past to tell you that it is possible, especially if you have never done the thing before you will quit.
This is one of the most challenging things for people to wrap their minds around because the truth of the matter is, it does not require a lot of time to figure out the business strategy. That is not hard at all. The most challenging thing is to believe that it’s possible in spite of everything you see in front of you and keep moving.
I want the world to know that when we work together your business will improve, but so will your life because I help clients learn how to think differently about the circumstances in their life and business so they can take powerful action from that place.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am THE WORST person to ask this question to LOL. I have a group of girlfriends and we call our activities Scheduled Fun. If it wasn’t for them, I would have no idea what to do.
I used to love taking people Downtown to the World of Coca Cola, Aquarium and the club in that area, but…COVID. So if we are talking COVID-friendly activities, we still have a drive-in theatre, which is neat if you’ve never been to one. I would be on the lookout for any rooftop bar with a live band. I am not sure if Gypsy Kitchen or Southern Gentleman in the Shoppes of Buckhead still (or ever) had a band, but the food is delicious. Brunch is a MUST if you visit me and there are so many places, but I’m loving Buttermilk Kitchen right now.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many people, but I’m going to dedicate this one to Brooke Castillo of the Life Coach School who said, if you are going to be uncomfortable, you might as well get what you want.
