We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Cooper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I actually fought with being a creative for a while. It was an internal battle with my logic and my heart. That’s why I didn’t pursue my Acting career sooner. I’d convinced myself to take the logical or traditional route and do what I thought was expected of me. However, it’s no mistake when God has a calling on your life. I’ve had many jobs and found other things I’m good at. Nothing gives me this… feeling. This beautiful and overwhelming sense of fulfillment. I know God doesn’t put any desire in your heart by accident. The first time I learned this was my first year out of undergrad. I was looking for entry level desk jobs, but I had Acting on my mind every single day. The desire was somewhat “haunting” me for a lack of better words and I wanted it to go away. The second time was last Fall amidst the pandemic. I’d taken time off from Acting to take care of my health & work on my finances. I remember feeling especially unhappy, unmotivated and lost. I was stressed and unable to get a good night’s rest for weeks. I didn’t quite know why until my first day back on a set. It was a quick shoot, but I was on cloud 9 by the time I got home. My spirits were lifted for days and no lie I started sleeping great. It was like a sense of order was restored within me. To make a long story short, I genuinely believe God chose me to go on this journey. I’m committed to staying in alignment with what he’’s planned for my life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have several independent projects I’ll be premiering/filming this fall that I’m really excited about. The 1st is an episodic sci-fi thriller directed by Gennard Johnson called Gray and Blue. We filmed last year and it should be dropping in the fall. Another will be produced by CheckMate Productions called Loyal Through It All. It’s a coming-of-age dramedy where I’ll be playing the love interest of the lead character.

I also recently filmed a really cool horror short directed by Miles Triplett which will be a part of the SVS Productions “Spec Series”. I’m so excited to be getting experience acting in a variety of genres and I know it’ll help me continue to grow as an actress.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to LS Studios where I’ve done the majority of my training in ATL. They’ve been super supportive of me since day one. It’s a school that genuinely cares about the success and wellbeing of their students. They work really hard! Also, CheckMate Productions. Who are incredibly talented and passionate filmmakers. Thank you for believing in me. I’m working on a few really exciting projects with them. Stay tuned!
