We had the good fortune of connecting with Dorian Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dorian, what do you attribute your success to?
Making sure anything and everything I offer, has a positive impact of the lives of my supporters. If what you do as a business or brand only benefits you, then it’s not successful to me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a creative, I enjoy art in many forms but my main three are hip hop music, graphic design, and event curator. It’s exciting to see ideas take life, develop into brands or experiences that people love and enjoy. It took many years of trial and error but over time, my music and art took a life of it’s own. And like anything in life there are good and bad aspects and its not easy at all. But the love for it as well as the people that connect to art, keeps you going. There have been days where I’ve been ready to throw in the towel, but it’s a labor of love, and it keeps me going. The most valuable lesson is everything will change and you must adapt. Don’t get stuck in a space, the goal can stay the same but the method to get there has to change. But for my brand I always want the world to know, everything I’ve ever done has all been out of love and for the people. ‘
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So i’m originally from Augusta but now I reside in Charlotte, NC. So if we’re doing a weekend in Augusta, depending on their tastes either Humanitree House or Jackie Ms for a bite to eat. Drinks at Tribeca or The Studio Bar. Augusta has pockets of live entertainment from different bands like Phaze 360, Garden City Jazz, or The Lady and The Gents. But if we’re doing a weekend in the Queen City, definitely catching a cigar lounge, which Tailored Smoke is one of my favorites. Boudreaux’s Louisiana Kitchen or Cuzzo’s Cuisine to eat, and to be honest it’s a lot of great options. Tons of live music in all genres too.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
