We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodney Wash and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rodney, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I had to make is letting go of people I thought I needed in my life. I have learned that I can stand on my own. I am thankful to have learned this lesson in life.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would like to consider myself a young mogul in the making. Someone who I admire in the industry is Steve Harvey, he has an incredible work ethic. I am most proud of the meaningful connections I have made in such a short amount of time. Networking has been crucial for me being in the media industry. I have been humbled and have learned that it is okay to ask for help when you need it. This journey has not been easy, I have been told “NO” a great number of times. My determination has helped me to press forward and make my dreams a reality. When people think of my brand I want them to know that your imperfections are what make you unique.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take someone who is visiting Atlanta to brunch at Bab’s in Midtown. I enjoy being outdoors so I would take them to either Piedmont Park or to Roswell Mill. COVID has really put a damper on going out to clubs or bars (even though everything is open) I am not completely comfortable with going out. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to Representative Erica Thomas for believing in me and my dream. She has been a wonderful friend and sounding board. I would also like to shoutout to Desiree Lee for helping me with my 1st book “Media World Through My Eyes”. She saw something in me that I did not see in myself.
