We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakhema Spicer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nakhema, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is staying true to my vision while designing for real women. I focus on creating pieces that make women feel confident, sexy, and empowered. Building genuine relationships with my clients and consistently delivering quality and creativity have been the foundation of my brands growth.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Fashion designing has been something that I’ve wanted to do since the second grade. I founded NSOriginals seven years ago with nothing more than a passion for fashion and a determination to create clothing that celebrates women. I am a self taught designer based in Atlanta. Everything I know from sewing and patternmaking to producing runway collections I taught myself through persistence, countless hours of practice, and willingness to learn through trial and error.

What sets me apart is that every piece I make is deeply intentional. NSOriginals is rooted in modern femininity, confidence, and sensual expression. My designs celebrate the female form through sculpted silhouettes, soft textures, and thoughtful details that allow women to feel beautiful, empowered, and unapologetically themselves. I believe confidence is not something to hide it’s something to embrace.

My journey has been anything but easy. Building an independent fashion brand without formal training or significant resources has required resilience, patience, and faith. I’ve balanced creating collections while working, financing my brand on my own, and learning every aspect of the business through experience. There have been moments of self doubt and setbacks, but each challenge has strengthened my skills and reinforced my commitment to my vision.

One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is producing my own runway collections and seeing my designs come to life on models who embody the confidence and femininity that inspire my work. Watching women connect with my clothing reminds me why I started this journey in the first place.

Along the way I’ve learned that success isn’t built overnight. Consistency, perseverance, and believing in your vision are just as important as talent. Every obstacle has taught me to trust the process and continue creating, even when the path forward wasn’t clear.

More than anything I want people to know that NSOriginals is about celebrating women. My goal is to create fashion that makes women feel seen, beautiful, and confident in their own skin. I hope that when someone wears an NSOriginals design they don’t just put on a garment-they step into a version of themselves that feels powerful, feminine, and worthy of taking up space.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Atlanta for a week, I’d have them stay at the The Starling Atlanta Midtown in Midtown. It’s connected to Colony Square, which has so much to do in one place. We’d definitely grab drinks at Jojo’s Beloved Cocktail Lounge because I love its cute ‘70s-inspired vibe. We’d also check out the food hall and catch a movie at IPIC Theaters Atlanta, which makes for a fun dine-in movie night.

For nightlife, Babas Hookah Lounge is a must. Another favorite is Holiday Bar because the music is always good, and it’s surrounded by other fun spots like Velvet Taco and Puttshack Atlanta.

You also can’t visit Atlanta without spending time on the Atlanta BeltLine. There are endless restaurants, parks, public art installations, and trails for walking, biking, or jogging. It’s one of the best ways to experience the city’s energy and creativity.

And because I love a good rooftop, we’d end the trip with drinks and views at Spaceman, Overstory Rooftop, and Ponce City Market Rooftop. Between the food, nightlife, and beautiful views, I think they’d leave Atlanta having had the best week ever.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I give all the glory to god- without him none of this would be possible. I also want to thank my mom, friends, and family for their love, encouragement, and unwavering support. Lastly, I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has liked, commented, reposted, referred my brand, and supported me as clients. Every bit of support means the world to me.
