Meet Daisy Nguyen | Illustrator, Graphic Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daisy Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daisy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have been doing art for pretty much all of my life, and I genuinely can’t imagine doing anything else as a career. Not only because it’s a genuine passion of mine, but because I can’t imagine not putting my creative energy into a career. My inspiration comes from a desire to share, experiment, brighten people’s day, and to simply just create. To me, making things just because I want to, to see if I can, or to see someone smile–even if that person’s myself–is enough of a reason to justify making it. I’m not great with words, but if I could put the sheer awe and beauty of human connection through art and design into words, I wouldn’t be a visual designer, haha.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work has a lot of hand-drawn elements–like doodles, lettering, and side notes–that give my pieces a very personal touch. It gives a better sense of human connection through the art and uniqueness that you can’t get from anywhere else. Through my journey of finding this style and uniqueness, I’ve learned to not undervalue my work because of these traits. It was somewhat challenging because a lot of people still don’t understand the value of the arts or recognize it as a higher-value profession. However, that doesn’t change the value of the work itself. My work, regardless of whether I made it as fanart for someone else, a gift for a friend, or a silly thing to cheer myself up, has value because I saw that it had enough value to make it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The usual routine is going to Sugarloaf Mills for window shopping if not actual shopping, and then going by Tofu House on Pleasant Hill for food (their tofu soup is great). There’s a lot of comfort in routine, but there’s always more things to do around metro-Atlanta. The Georgia Aquarium is an Atlanta staple and aquarium vibes are great for spending time with friends; we’d also like to visit places we haven’t been before, like the Botanical Gardens. It’s much less of an hour by hour itinerary and more like a list of things we’d like to do because we like moving at our own pace! We are definitely more of a figuring-it-out-as-we-go duo with a framework of a plan, but that’s because the vibes and time spent together are just as important to us. :]

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My best friend Joy has been an irreplaceable pillar of support for me ever since we were in middle school. She’s always been so excited about everything I do and all the art I make, and her genuine interest in my work and passion has been a great motivation to keep creating for both myself and for the people who care for me and my work.
I would also like to shoutout Georgia State University’s graphic design class of 2025. They are an amazing group of incredibly skilled designers, and being able to see their work process and the amazing projects they’ve come up with during our time together has really inspired me to put my all into my design work. They’ve been a major proponent of reminding me that you can do whatever you want forever.
