Today we’re excited to be connecting with Najirah Marshall again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Najirah , always such a pleasure connecting with you and thank you for sharing your stories, insights and inspiring messages with our community. We’re looking forward to getting the download and what you have been up to since our last interview, but first can you briefly introduce yourself to folks who might have missed the prior conversation.
My name is Najirah Marshall aka Trendy Naj and I’m a fashion photographer based in NYC. As an East Coast photographer my work is deeply influenced by the raw and vibrant culture of urban environments. I strive to capture the intersection of fashion and attitude, creating a bold and edgy aesthetic that tells compelling stories of individuality and self expression.
With a BFA in Fashion Merchandising, I bring a strong background in fashion and a refined sense of style to every project. My attention to detail is what sets me apart, whether through the dramatic interplay of shadows and light or the unapologetic confidence of my muses.
My work has been featured in publications like Milk, and I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with brands such as Anna Bolina, Hubane, Belly, Olivia Sade and more.

Alright, so our main goal today is to give our audience an update on what you have been up to since our last conversation. We’d love to hear how things are going and what you are most looking forward to or excited about these days.
Currently I’ve been deeply invested into a personal project I have going. It’s titled “Veiled in Velvet” and it touches on the hidden complexities of femininity and the idea of women being wrapped in a dark, luxurious aura. It suggests something beautiful yet enigmatic, soft yet strong and ultimately, something that invites closer inspection. I’ve been shooting for a little while now and I’ve learned so much! I feel like I’ve finally found my style and the types of projects I want to work on. Super proud of my growth and where my work is headed. I really can’t say too much, but be on the lookout! Special things are on the way.

We have now arrived at one of our favorite parts of the interview – the lightning round. We’ll ask you a few quick questions to give us all some fun insights about you.

Did you play sports growing up (if so which ones): I did play Softball for a short period of time in high school.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up: Everything! All fashion related. I knew one thing, whatever I wanted to do had to be in the fashion industry! Teacher, designer, interior designer, visual merchandiser, photographer, stylist .. you name it!

What do you want people to remember about you and your brand? What are some of things that you feel are most important, unique, special, etc?
I want my work to be thought provoking. I want it to stir up social commentary whether it’s good or bad. I feel like nowadays everything is super repetitive and everyone is kinda doing the same thing. I just want to stand out. I’d like to inspire others through my work.. get people thinking! Individuality is extremely scarce right now and it’s super important to me that the work I do is refreshing.
