Meet Zhanae | Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zhanae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zhanae, what do you want your legacy to be?
Overall, I want people to be encouraged through the things I do and knowing me. I want them to remember that I was fearless, and I stood for what was right when things were hard and when it wasn’t fun. They should look at my life and decide to go do something great and make the world better, no matter how small the action.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started creating different projects because I really wanted an outlet to express myself positively. My art is me living and learning, and encouraging others to find the beauty in their journey as well as the strength to keep going.
I’m really proud of myself for starting my podcast and my magazine in efforts to uplift my community. They are the first projects I’ve released through my production company and I’m excited for all the other ones that I’m brainstorming now.
I got to where I am today by creating my own lane. I’ve had difficulty getting a seat at the table a lot of time, so I decided that I would start building my own seat and table lol. The biggest thing I want people to know is, just because you can’t get an opportunity from someone else doesn’t mean that you’re not worthy. Sometimes it’s just God giving you the room to make your own opportunities.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I definitely have to go with Downtown, Little Five Points, The Alvin Ailey Theater, The High Museum, and we can pick random restaurants. If you want something a little more adventurous hop on Groupon.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mom, dad, grandma and anyone that assisted in raising me. God plays a big part in who I am and what I can accomplish as well. I find my strength in him when I’m up high and when I’m running on empty. The efforts and support I’ve received from my parents and community helped me become who I am today.
