Why did you pursue an artistic or creative career?

Artists and creatives face innumerable challenges given that their career path often doesn’t come with a playbook, a steady paycheck or any form of safety net. It’s definitely not easy and so we asked a few of the artists and creatives we admire to talk to us about why they chose to pursue an artistic or creative career.

My art has created and molded me into this wonderful woman of God. I have been so eager to finding out who I could become in my future. Now the future is here, and I am overly excited and proud of the woman I have become.

Stepping out on faith and pursuing a creative career is important to me because there is no other path that gives me a fire of passion, joy, and purpose. Since I was a child, I always stood outside the box. I used to put barrettes on my hoop earrings at five years old. Didn’t care what nobody had to say. I knew I was fly. In my youth, I didn’t believe that this type of career was possible for Me because of where I was, where my family came from, and what leaders and teachers would tell us. I pursued a creative career because, it has been a dream of mine since I was about three years old. I just had a niche for music. The more I learned about it, the more I grew to love it. Starting from being in chorus in elementary school, to band in middle and high school, music has always been a part of me. It’s not just a passion; it’s my purpose. I realized early on that my voice has the power to tell stories, inspire confidence, and uplift others. I pursued an artistic and creative career because I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of technology, design, and human experience. Growing up, I was drawn to storytelling and problem-solving, and I saw design as a powerful medium to bring those elements together. I chose a creative career, because it allows me to express myself in ways that I can’t really explain in words. When I’m creating different designs for my clothing brand The JG Clothing LLC it just feels good, most of the time I get lost in the process, thinking about the colors, fonts, designs and where to place them. It’s like having a Second Breath, it’s amazingly refreshing. Being able to be creative keep me out of trouble in a lot of ways, because it keeps me busy. Being able to take one article of clothing and sew it to another and create a whole new look was my thing. I’m very grateful to God for giving me that type of vision and gift. I love vibrancy, colors, fashion, fabric, I call it ” THE ART OF CLOTHING”. I feel like if I can start on a design, finish it, and be proud of it I can do anything. Read more>>
