We had the good fortune of connecting with Linde LaChance and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Linde, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
You could say “Artistry” has always been in my veins in one form or another. I grew up as a highly competitive figure skater for most of my life and LOVED being able to take to the stage, even if it was just an ice rink. I have competed in NHL Arenas all across the country and got a taste of traveling and performing. On the flip-side of being a competitive athlete, I also grew up singing and playing several instruments from the time I could barely talk! My whole family was musical- whether it was singing, being a musician, or performing in Theater. It was practically a requirement in my family to play an instrument and sing. Following an Artist’s path felt so natural to me, especially as I began songwriting in high school, and it gave me an outlet to continue performing each night.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As both a songwriter and an Artist, I love being able to tell stories and connect with people through shared experiences. I’ve always felt that music and writing can bring people together and help someone feel less alone. It can even help you on a journey of self-discovery when you hear that one song and go, “oh my gosh, i’ve had this experience or feeling too and never been able to put a name to it.” Whether it is writing for myself or another Artist, I always strive to bring poignant moments to life.
I grew up with mostly country music in my house, but I have always been incredibly influenced by female artists. I probably knew every word to every The Chicks song (formerly known as The Dixie Chicks) before I could even read! From there, my influences spread to Artists of other genre’s such as Carole King, Avril Lavigne, and songwriters like Julia Michaels. As my own writing style and music has evolved, I’ve always tried to keep the honesty in my lyricism that Country Music brings. My previous single, “Me Tonight” reflects on how I have dealt with anxiety and panic attacks, while my latest single, “Cheating On Me” is a fun, witty take on a topic that usually makes you double-take (you’ll just have to listen to find out!)
I’ve been spending the past few months back in the studio working on producing new music and I can’t wait to share more in the new year!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, Nashville is THE place to be and there are so many amazing spots to visit between live music venues and our music museums. If it’s your first time in Nashville though, your first stop has to be walking down lower Broadway to hear all the incredible live music. The second stop has to be The Listening Room where you will hear all original music from local songwriters. Seeing a Writer’s Round, like The Listening Room, is truly one of the original, magical parts of Nashville.
If you’re looking for something outside of downtown, East Nashville has a plethora of delicious restaurants and night life. My personal fave is Rosemary’s Beauty Parlor.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my Mom! As a single mom to two young girls, she always pushed me to chase my dreams, no matter how big (or how many!). Between 6am skating practices and late night songwriter shows, she has been there every step of the way as a supporter and cheerleader.
