We had the good fortune of connecting with Danny Sosa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danny, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was to create something on my own. Free of corporate processes and the everyday “rat race”. I wanted something that would give me the opportunity to use my imagination and make people in my industry happy.
The pursuit of freedom and the desire to build something for my family also played a huge part in it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I could say the idea for this particular journey was an overnight thing. But the truth is that I had been ready to leave my corporate job for many years. I could no longer sit and do the same work day after day for basically the same pay, for the sake of just having benefits and an OK paycheck.
AC Custon is by far the leader in this hobby of diecast collectors & customizers. We provide products people want and can’t wait to get their hands on. We provide freedom of expression, via an endless options and great quality products.
I’m excited about how many people have supported our business these past 24 months, and how many stellar reviews we’ve gotten since.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d probably take them to a Braves game and have a few appetizers in the Battery park bars. I love that area because its always vibrant with lots of options. If we decided to do something a bit quieter I’d take them to Lake Lanier for a private BBQ or just to enjoy the peace and quiet of it’s surroundings.
I’d also insist we dined at Rico’s World Kitchen in Buford.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely,
First my cousin Claudio, who started this company way back almost 10 yrs ago in Brazil. He insisted that I took a look at what he had built, and convinced me to bring the idea to the US.
After much skepticism I ended up falling in love with the hobby. He was for sure, the biggest influence in this journey of mine. Until 2 yrs ago I had no idea how big this hobby was, or could be.
