We had the good fortune of connecting with Jen Baggett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jen, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I think my balance has shifted as things in my life have shifted. When I became a parent, my balanced shifted, when I became an entrepreneur my balance shifted. What I have come to realize is that balance doesn’t mean 50/50 for me and it truly looks different for everyone. To me balance is being able to integrate all the different parts of my life in a way that honors and respects all of them. That means having boundaries around things both professionally and personally so that I can find time for the things that are most important to me. It also means that I have to make room for ample rest and recovery time for myself so that I can show up in the best way possible for my family, my clients, my friends and my community.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Catchlight Consulting, LLC. I offer Executive Coaching and Leadership Development Consulting Services. I truly believe that leadership isn’t confined to titles or positions; it’s a way of being. It’s about how we show up in every facet of our lives – at work, at home and in our communities. As a certified Executive Coach & Facilitator, I’ve made it my mission to cultivate courageous, resilient, self-aware leaders who can confidently respond to the complex challenges of today’s world. I believe that when leaders tap into their unique strengths and talents and operate from a place of purpose, intention, and authenticity they become more present, engaged, and successful both in their professional and personal lives. I’m dedicated to helping these leaders unlock their full potential and create lasting transformation.
At Catchlight, I don’t simply offer coaching and development programs; I provide a customized journey of self-discovery and growth. Each individual is unique, which is why I tailor my approach to meet the specific needs and aspirations of every client. I don’t promise to have all the answers, but I do promise to be your steadfast ally as you navigate the complexities of leadership and chart a course towards success.
I got where I am today by learning as much as I can about leadership and human behavior and cultivating long lasting relationships with my clients. I truly do this work because I love it and I want to make an impact in the world. I think this resonates with my clients and allows them to feel seen while we work together. The road hasn’t always been easy. Working from home during Covid with two kids doing virtual school was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Those years really taught me the importance of managing my own boundaries and the importance of my own self-care. When I do those things I can better show up for clients and for my family. Those years also taught me the importance of resilience, of getting back up even when you get the wind knocked out of you. It doesn’t matter if you fail, it only matters how you respond to your mistakes.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live north of Atlanta, so I would definitely spend some time in Alpharetta. I love the downtown area, with the restaurants and the shopping. I would do a reservation at the Hotel at Avalon and do an overnight there, do some shopping at Avalon, eat at either Rumi’s or Colleta and then head over to the downtown area to stroll around. I’d also do a stroll on the Alpha Loop to get some exercise in. Other places I’d say we’d have to eat at are Milton’s in Milton, Casa Nuova in Milton and CT Cantina in Alpharetta.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, my family (my husband Drew and my two girls, Peyton and Scarlett) – they are my biggest cheerleaders.
My friend, colleague and mentor Aaronde Creighton – I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for him and his support.
My dear friend and colleague Larissa Haynes who has supported me and my business through so much.
My friend and colleague, Keith Edmunds who has been a huge support and wonderful colleague to work with.
There are so many more!
