We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendrick Cogdell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendrick, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I believe that my photography helps the community by shedding light on those who want to be seen by others. With social media being such a daily aspect of people’s lives, we often want to show the people around us the best versions of ourselves. My business is focused on not only being able to allow people not to show off their best attractions, but to capture the best memorable moments that will be stuck with them forever as well. Through my photography, I help promote and document local events that boost local moral and encourage community engagement. As I started my career, I’ve given photographers a point of view through my own artistic perspective that not only encourages them to try new things, but motivate them to keep going.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe what sets me apart from others is my unique personal style of shooting and editing using different lighting, composition and color. I’m most proud of how fast not only me but my business has grown with it being not even a full year since I’ve started. I’ve gotten where I am today by always stepping out the house with my camera with a purpose of having every shot taken being better than the last. I know that in order for me to keep getting better I have to be consistent with posting on my business page and not staying complacent in my work. Everyone that knows me knows I always have my computer with me everywhere I go, spending countless hours no matter how late or tired I may be perfecting my craft and creating my own style of editing. Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy, but nothing in life ever is. I had to overcome challenges by spending a lot of time practicing and honing my skills while staying focused. Along the way I’ve learned that your work is only going to be as good as the amount of time you’ve put into it. And the results are even better. I want the world to know my creativity and artistic view, hoping that it inspires the viewers to push them selves into trying new things and work harder in their field.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not really out much because of my work schedule, and when I’m not at work then I’m taking pictures and editing. If I had to recommend any place to eat it would be grindhouse killer burgers on Piedmont Avenue. It is my favorite burger spot in Atlanta. There is also Kingston’s Caribbean restaurant in Decatur which has the best authentic Jamaican food in the city. But I can’t have my friend leave a city which is famously known for having the best wings and visiting the Trap Museum.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If there’s one person who I believe deserves this most praise before anyone else when it comes to my success, it’s God. I’ve always believed that God has already planned out our lives and it is up to us to listen and follow the road he’s paved to see us succeed most. The only reason I picked up a camera, gained the success I have so far, met such amazing people, and had such a great support group, is because of him. I want to shout out my mom and dad for being my number one supporters, believing in me and pushing me to take my talents so far in life. I would also like to shout out my photographer friend flicksbyhollywood, who has always invited me to any if not every shoot he’s taking just to see me get better. My final shoutout goes to all my friends and family who supported me throughout my journey, I’m so thankful for you all believing and praising the accomplishments I’ve achieved.
