We had the good fortune of connecting with Shavonia Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shavonia, how do you think about risk?
I have always believed that taking risks was essential for growth and success. I recall the time I left my stable job in the corporate world to pursue my passion for acting. It was a risky move, but one that ultimately led to discovering my true calling and fulfillment in my work. Taking risks have been the defining factor in my life and career. Every time I have stepped into the unknown, I have emerged stronger and more resilient. When leaving my corporate job, I decided to take a leap of faith and enrolled in the School of the Arts at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City to hone my skills. Despite the uncertainties and challenges, I was determined to follow my heart and live a life filled with passion and purpose. My leap of faith has opened new doors, and I am now turning my dreams into reality.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is my unwavering dedication to authenticity. I believe that true art lies in baring one’s soul and portraying characters with raw honesty. My journey has been far from easy. I have faced countless rejections and setbacks, but I never let them dim my spirit or belief. I push myself to new heights with every failure and look at each stumbling block as a steppingstone towards my goal. My success is not measured by fame or fortune, but by the impact my art has on others. My brand is authenticity, vulnerability, and courage. My story is a testament to the power of art in that it heals and inspires.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would create an itinerary to explore all the hidden gems and vibrant energy Atlanta has to offer. I would first stop by the historic Ponce City Market. In the evening, enjoy live music at the Fox Theatre, and later head to a relaxing trendy rooftop overlooking the city skyline. The week would continue with visiting iconic landmarks such as the Martin Luther King Jr historic site and the High Museum of Art. We would take a stroll through Botanical Gardens and a few of the markets in the area. Atlanta has so many thriving food spots, so we would visit some of my favorites like Apt4 B, Rock Steady, Toast on Lenox, and Poor Calvins.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God is the ruler of my life, and He has given me incredible favor. I am truly blessed to have an undeniable support system in my family and mentors that have been a constant reminder and encourager along the way. My parents gave me the gift of dreams and the ability to realize them. They sacrificed their lives so that I could go after my passions and desires. My sister has always laid the foundation and blueprint to make me believe anything is possible. Charmin Lee, my mentor, and coach has always helped me to realize my potential and has fanned the spark into my flame. My agents at SY Talent and Manager at Bravura Management continuously believe in me and push me to new heights
