We had the good fortune of connecting with Theresa A. Grant and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Theresa A., we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business wasn’t just a decision driven by ambition or opportunity; it was deeply rooted in a personal promise and a newfound outlook on life. My journey began with a pledge to honor my commitment to God, to utilize my experiences and talents in service to others. Every day, I wake up with a burning passion to share my story and empower individuals to achieve their financial aspirations.
Recognizing the critical importance of financial literacy, I’ve dedicated myself to a continuous journey of learning. Each day, I invest time and effort into expanding my knowledge and refining my skills, ensuring that I am equipped with a wealth of experiences and tools to share with others.
In my business, my mission is to empower women to step confidently into the realm of financial independence. I firmly believe that with the right knowledge and determination, every woman has the ability to not only define and conquer their definition of financial success but also overcome any past financial setbacks she may have encountered.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What distinguishes me is my unwavering dedication to sharing valuable insights, coupled with my genuine desire to support others, underpinned by a strong work ethic. I take immense pride in these qualities, as they consistently define my approach.
My financial journey is a testament to resilience and faith, starting with humble beginnings, experiencing significant gains, facing near loss, and ultimately finding comfort and direction through divine guidance. The lessons I share through my business are not merely theoretical; they stem from my own journey of triumphs and setbacks. I intimately understand the feelings of shame and embarrassment associated with financial challenges, including filing for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. However, fueled by a determination to overcome adversity, I delved into the hard work of financial recovery.
My journey involved voracious reading, meticulous budgeting, prudent expense management, and the difficult but necessary practice of saying no to impulse spending and financial obligations beyond my means. These experiences have endowed me with the confidence to share my story authentically and to advocate passionately for the importance of sound money management in achieving overall financial success.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow, activities for a weeklong trip. I would have to act like a tourist because I do not hang out much. We would definitely find a live comedy show or two, eat breakfast and/or lunch at Two Eggs in Conyers, Dinner at Coaxum’s they have a live band, Nana’s Chicken and Waffles. The Atlanta Electric Car City Tour, take a walk in the parks downtown (Centennial/Piedmont), Walk and Dine on the Beltline. Visit the Fox or the Cobb Energy Center there is always a stage play happening around town.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of my family and friends, who have patiently listened to my discussions about finances, often for hours on end. My two sons have been particularly inspiring, encouraging me to authentically share my story in the same candid manner I do with them, fostering engaging conversations that are anything but scripted. To my friends, I extend my deepest gratitude for entrusting me with their personal financial aspirations and setbacks, allowing me to guide and coach them along the way.
Moreover, I am thankful to my church community, Antioch East Conyers, for providing me with the platform to reach a broader audience and nurture the growth of my business. Their support has been invaluable, enabling me to extend my message of financial empowerment to a wider community.
