We had the good fortune of connecting with Antoine Quinnie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Antoine, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My why: After coaching a team that just couldn’t win a game, I wanted to ensure each kid had the basic skills to play basketball while being competitive.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

My name is Antoine Quinnie and I’m the owner of Dimension 21 Basketball Training. I have had the opportunity to train student-athletes ranging from Middle School up to professional players. Recently, I’ve had the pleasures of training with:

– NBA G League Skyhawks
– NBA Lakers Coach Handy “94 Feet of Game Camps”
– Head Trainer of Agnes Scott College
– NBA Combine Training with T3I Sport
– Tony Delk Academy
– USA Youth Basketball
– GHSA Referee

My journey started in Raleigh, NC, where I was appointed to be a Head Coach (first time coaching) and they needed me to coach a team that never won a game the last season. With the proper coaching and training, I was able to help build their confidence and take the team to the final four.

It has been a challenge to get to this point and it’s still a challenge. During Covid, I began to reach out to a lot of NBA/WNBA players to train and no one responded except NBA retiree Tony Delk and NBA Lakers Coach. I was able to learn so much from them about basketball and life and it showed that I was on track to becoming the best version of Coach Q.
My favorite quote that I coined is
“Bet on YOU!”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would have loved to take them to my favorite eating spot, Grand Lux Cafe, which recently closed their doors, and prefer that they coming during the winter months. Now, I’d take them to The Oceanaire Seafood Room for some good seafood, as I am pescatarian. Afterwards, we will catch a basketball game at either State Farm arena or the Gateway Arena at College Park. If they are still looking for a night cap, we will swing by Suite Lounge, for a late night vibe.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, everyone including my family, close friends and even the people that didn’t believe. I would also like to recommend a book called, “Never Be Afraid”!
