We had the good fortune of connecting with Leon Washington Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leon, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most important thing I’ve done as a parent in terms of impact on my child was to allow my son to see me finish what I start. From being a young parent at Louisiana State University and still graduating and earning my degree to now being in my career and still pursuing other endeavors I try to lead by example so that he sees that you can’t just talk about doing something, you have to focus, set goals, sacrifice and have the discipline and determination to make it happen even when others may doubt you and think you can’t achieve your dream. Your dream is just that YOURS! I read that if you believe in yourself, good things do start happening! Those are just a few of the things I try to instill in my son.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For my 2nd Act in life, I have decided to pursue a passion of mine which just so happens to be Acting. What sets me apart from others is that this is something that I want for me. I am willing to put in the 19 and 20 hour days to be PHENOMENAL. Alot of people say they want things, but alot of people aren’t willing to do what it takes to get it. Right now, after studying and learning various techniques of the craft, I am proud of earning my First Lead Role in an upcoming film. I got to where I am by working hard, taking classes, practicing and reading about the craft, not being afraid to make mistakes, believing in myself, staying dedicated, remaining disciplined, not worrying about what others say and may think, and having the determination to succeed. This career is definitely not easy. I am overcoming the challenges by reading my self help books, exercising, and taking trips when the time allows to just relax and enjoy life. Along the way, I’ve learned that what’s for you is for you and what’s not for you simply is for someone else. I’ve learned that you have to have an almost laser like focus on what it is you want and show up because if you don’t, someone else most definitely will. I want the world to know that Leon Washington Jr. is coming and he will be a force to be reckon with in this Entertainment Industry and more!
